I have a couple of playlists synced to my phone and tablet. The amount of disk space used by the app as reported by the OS and the amount Plex thinks it’s using is vastly different. See the screenshots
On my tablet, Plex used up all the disk space and under reported disk usage in the sync settings page. Clearing the app settings seemed to fix the issue for a while but now it’s happening again.
Its possible my wifi connection was interrupted during sync and Plex didn’t cleanup properly and has lost track of temporary files.
Most of my contents is Blu-ray (full bitrate – 20+ Mbps), and I’m transcoding to around 8mbps.
Where does Plex store the synced files? Can I inspect the directories with a file browser and maybe cleanup?
I’d like to figure out what’s going on and would like not to have to clear settings and re-sync evwrytime this happens.
I’m disappointed that this feature isn’t work properly. It was the reason why I paid for the pass.
Can you go ‘around’ the app itself and see if there are indeed temp files in there? Part of the transfer mechanism, as I understand it, creates the temp during transfer then actually ‘accounts’ for it upon successful completion. Key word there is ‘successful’.
If you can get a screenshot from Android, I will write it up immediately and give to the team. If they can see it in action, with your steps to reproduce, they’ll find a way to fix it.
I don’t have any rooted devices so I can’t go ‘around’ the application. The /data/data/com.plexapp.android directory is protected.
The closest thing I found is the adb backup -f plex2.ab --apk com.plexapp.android command but it doesn’t seem to be working.
Do you have any suggestions on how to collect a file list? Is it possible to do it through your app? I’d be happy to install a version of your app (it would have to be signed) that logs this if you would like.
Note: the first screenshot is from Android Settings (Settings -> Apps -> Plex)
