Seems to be specific to Nvidia servers. It works well for Windows and Mac PMS
Any idea how to fix this issue ?
I agree, seems to be specific for Nvidia server, works fine for Windows server. Recommend to contact Nvidia support, they are usually very helpful and respond within 24 hours.
I’m running on windows os exactly the same issue.
I’ve switched to using Infuse on my ipad. not ideal and id much rather just use plex. but unfortunately plex can’t sort out basic functionality and the main reason that people actually pay for plex pass.
Agree - this is definitely NOT just an nVidia server issue.
I think the main question is now not so much “what is the fix”, but more “how do we get Plex to recognise this is a bug and fix it?”
Anyone have any suggestions?
Hilariously after posting that i was switching to Infuse, my UFC 246 sync completed.
I then tried a TV show and 3 shows instantly synced. I have no idea why.
I’m running one server on FreeNAS, and 2 servers on Ubuntu VMs. Both the original Ubuntu and FreeNAS instance had stopped working, but the newly installed Plex server on the 2nd Ubuntu VM worked. so it doesn’t seem to be an Android application issue…?
G.
Having the same issue, tried uninstalling and reinstalling the android app, deleting the cache, re-enabling the permissions (that weren’t asked during installation). it’s always stuck at waiting for download.
My server is also on Freenas.
I have what appears to be the same problem. Show transcodes but sits at “Waiting”.
Server is FreeNAS and client is iPad Air 2. This was working a week or 2 ago and has been working for about a year.
What steps do I need to take to investigate? Provide server logs? Are there client logs?
Same problem. FreeBSD/FreeNAS server and iOS clients. Sync is stuck at 50% for about a week now.
I have been using Plex for 3 years now I think and I have always had the problem on all my devices that after a certain point the sync just does not work anymore. It is basically me praying that the sync works this time and if not deleting plex and all of its content on the device and trying again. Granted my library is huge and I sync ~200GB of music but having this problem for years now on over 10 different devices makes me quite frustrated.
I have been trying to sync my music to my new Galaxy Note 9 for 3 days now. It is half done and now I have to restart the smartphone every 20 downloaded songs because it will stop and not start again until I restart the phone, start Plex, go to synced items, wait 5 minutes and start the sync again. Well. 4000 songs more to go. I will probably be done in one week.
Can someone on the plex team please for the love of god put the sync problems to a higher priority? This problem existed for years now without any progress I can see. Or just talk to people. All we see is features being added without trying to maintain what is already there.
I really want to use plex as my app for everything media related but it is just such a pain :C
Came here because I noticed mobile devices were no longer syncing new episodes to their sync lists (transcoding would complete, but downloads would not initiate). Nuking and reinstalling the mobile apps (Android or iOS) did not correct this issue.
PMS version was 1.18.4.2171 on FreeBSD.
Forcing a PMS downgrade on FreeBSD back to 1.18.3.2129 corrected the issue without need for correction on my remaining mobile devices (on iOS for me at least). So somewhere in the 3.2129->4.2171 there was a regression on this front that broke the ability to start sync downloads. Just my $0.02.
EDIT: The device that alerted me to the problem (an Amazon Fire 2019) is now properly resyncing it’s old collection. So for FreeBSD/FreeNAS users, I recommend rolling back to 1.18.3.2129 to likely restore sync functionality.
Interesting on the downgrade. I just copied my music over to new PMS server (on Shield) and have been slowly syncing my music to phone, which has been working great. But then I just tried to add some more albums and it stopped with this “Waiting to download” issue. Numerous reboots and upgrades of PMS and phone, and still having issues.
Then for the heck of it I thought to try syncing an MP3 album, as majority of my collection is 16-24bit FLAC (which has synced fine). Started to download immediately (although slow over the slow hotel wifi I’m on). Since it was slow to download I then tried to sync a FLAC album. As soon as the FLAC was done converting and “waiting to download”, my MP3 album stopped downloading! I then removed the FLAC from sync and the MP3 resumed and finished. WTH?!?
My PM’s is currently 1.18.5.2260 and Android is 7.28.015196, and Plex on phone shows plenty of storage space left to sync.
Just wanted to confirm that downgrading to 1.18.3.2129 on FreeBSD also fixed sync for me too. Made no other changes, just downgraded, and restarted the service and hey presto! Sync list is downloading to my iPhone.
Clearly something has been broken along the way. Hopefully one of the Plex team sees this and can get it fixed, sooner rather than later.
I’m in the same boat. Nvidia shield plex,Server version 1.18.5.2309 sync with all my iOS devices stuck at 50%. Downgrade on Nvidia shield not possible without reconfigurations… very nice thanks plex team again a great job on your software updates, was forced to upgrade to the newest version because of the TVdb debacle and now my sync is no longer working. Fix asap !
Just update Shield TV to new version, plex received update to 1.18.5.2309 and i suppose, that sync will fix, but same problem… And there is no way to downgrade without data lost((((
Hi ajeysilver, I recommend to contact nvidia customer support. I have done so, and they say they will investigate the matter. “Josh” is the customer representative helping me.
Thanks
I upgraded 1.18.6.2348 yesterday (which includes “(FreeBSD) Fixes for database problems when syncing”) and it resolved Syncing on my Shield. Let’s see how long it goes before they break it again.
Anyone know when we can expect a Shield TV Server fix? I still don’t have an update available.
