I think it is time to ask for a refund or submit a BBB complaint for not delivering on what was paid for. I would be willing to wait for fixes if there was communication and progress, but I feel like we are being ignored and this has been an issue for way too long.
You are not being ignored. Plex is aware of the issue and looking for a solution. I just don’t have anything to share at this time.
Thank you for the update- responses/acknowledgement/dialog with actual Plex employees on these unresolved issues at some regular interval would be quite valuable. It may appear simple, but periodic updates that tell us someone is even listening would eliminate a whole category of frustration.
I too am having this issue. I am glad that a Plex employee is keeping us in the loop, but this issue is a big problem. Nearly all the top end chromebooks are using x86 hardware and now cant be used with the only real paid feature that ‘matters’
Brand new samsung chromebook with a fresh plex install. No sync option and the application crashes if you so much as look at the sync settings.
Please update with any progress on this issue. This is my travel device and this feature is very important to me.
@anon18523487 if I buy you guys a chromebook to test with, will you stop ignoring this issue and fix it?
Have you tried the latest beta? This may be fixed.
The history of this thread is saying to test after releases multiple times. If they are working on this issue it would be a known documented bug and fixed in a specific release, not guess work to hope it is fixed after every release is announced This gives me zero confidence that it is even being worked on.
Extremely frustrated customer.
My account is opt-in the beta testing here: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.plexapp.android
And on my chrome book I have the latest version I can get on the google play.
The app still crash when I click on “Manage” in “Download & sync”. The icon to sync when on a movie is no where to be found.
App Version 8.17.0.24942
So if you were refering to the fix “App could crash trying to compute the amount of storage used by Sync.” published by @ManuelPG included in 8.17.0.24840-beta, no it doesn’t fix it.
Can you get me a new log so I can check?
Sure, would you point me to a doc on how to generate a log/dump please ?
edit: nevermind, got it, here it is if others are looking for it: Android, Android TV, Fire TV, Portal Logs | Plex Support
Here it is: Bootup info:05-05 17:53:25.824 i: Hello, Plex for Android world (debug: false - Pastebin.com
I’ve put the startup info first and then the relevant logs that happen when I try to manage the sync stuff.
Let me know if you need anything else. If you want a full log, from start to crash, please pm me your email address so I won’t leak private info, I don’t wanna look at 3k line of debug to clean them up
P.S. It seems that in the Settings > Help & Support> Debugging the ip address of the device is not displayed for the entwork logging, it shows “-” the port is correctly displayed tho. Might be another bug.
That is not the relevant portion of the log I need to see. Please send me the entire log file. Click on my username and hit message. That will send me a private message.
I can reproduce that. I think it has to do with the way Android is emulated on Chromebooks so some information isn’t being passed back properly. If you know the devices IP address, you should still be able to call up the log.
Done. Thanks again!
Got the logs. I was wrong about the fix. I was checking on an x86 32-bit system. The issue is still there for x86 64-bit as confirmed by your log. Sorry for getting your hopes up.
No problem, people are getting angry a little bit as this bug is a real blocker for a lot of people buying new devices and I’ll speak for me, the summer is coming, vaccination+covid restriction relaxing, people will get on the move and will want to be able to sync their content! I’m sure you guy’s understand that… I don’t know how priority are arranged in your bug tracker but if this could get a bump that would be a great news for a lot of longtime plex pass subscriber!
Don’t hesitate to reach to us here if you need more testing! Have a great day.
Same as Arsenicks here, the beta version does not address the issue, though you clearly figured that out.
I really really want this fixed, so truly, if there is anything I can do to help this along, please let me know.
Same problem with latest update: 8.17.0.25120
My Chromebook got the update to 90.0.4430.215 with Android 11 (R90-13816.80.0) and Plex still crashes trying to manage sync’d content.
@anon18523487 it’s been a few weeks. Anything we can provide to assist?
