This might be a stupid question, but is it possible to access the Plex media server on Shield TV pro from an outside network using a Synology NAS DS212+ for storage?
I was wondering if I can use Plex while traveling, but I do not want to use DS212+ for transcoding since it is not powerful enough so I am adding the Shield just for transcoding.
I am planning to put the Shield next to DS212+ which is in the closet so transcoding is all it does.

What you’re wanting to do works.
- Keep the Syno as purely the NAS.
- Run everything on the Shield Pro
- Make sure you have a battery backup to handle power outages.
