Synology app stops randomly [Logs uploaded]

Hey team, the last few days i’ve found that randomly Plex stops running on my Synology 718+

I’ve read a few threads online but they seem to reverence random issues.

This morning I turned it back on in DSM and then pulled the logs. (Verbose logging off)

Server Version#: 1.16.3.1402
Synology Server Version#: Lastest

Plex Media Server Logs_2019-07-31_07-43-49.zip (2.4 MB)

I am not seeing any particular reason.
Do you have a previous version you can revert back to until Trumpy is back and can spend more time with this?

Thanks for chiming in Chuck.

Are you saying a previous version of Plex? I don’t think so. I guess I could use older version in the store… Would that be bad?

I was actually having this issue before the previous version, and updated after pulling the logs.
I will see how it goes.

If it crashes again, I will pull the logs again.

That should be fine. It was good enough to ship at one point !

What do I need to do to ensure all Plex settings are kept?

Also, do you know why new updates aren’t pushed to the Synology store?

The Application software (Package Center) is stored separately from your Plex share.
I put the code under /var/packages/Plex Media Server and your metadata resides permanently on the installation volume (usually volume1)

When you uninstall, only the code is removed. I leave everything else intact.

When the code is reinstalled, it looks for an existing Plex share. If it finds one, it skips the creation part entirely.

When PMS starts, it looks up where the Plex share currently is and uses that location.

We send Synology the notification of new versions but they are very slow to actually put them in their Package Center. It seems they only update prior to a major DSM update. Communication with them is both slow and difficult.
