Hi
My Synology running the latest Plex Server just threw this error during Data Scrubbing:
Checksum mismatch on file [/volume1/PlexMediaServer/AppData/Plex Media Server/Media/localhost/2/b10fbc35f7dbf3d89a1060a97c2868f66329fda.bundle/Contents/Indexes/index-sd_issue.bif].
I do have backups and Synology suggest replacing the file. I can certainly do that. But I’m not sure if that would break Plex. Should I replace the whole bundle? Or can I get Plex to regenerate whatever this file is?
I tried putting the file name into Google, but no luck.
Since this is happening during Data Scrubbing, do follow future logs from your Synology, since this could indicate the start of HDD’s failing
When that’s said, it’s safe to replace the file, but do take care when doing so, that it ends up with the same owner/permissions as the original one (Hint: compare to another bundle directory if needed)
And FYI: A bif file are a file containing thumbs you see when fast forwarding
Thank you for that information. Knowing that the .bif file was the thumbnails, I was able to discover which video file it was.
I thought it safer just to copy the video file to my computer. Delete the video from Plex. Then I turned off thumbnails (probably unnecessary), readded the video, then turned thumbnails back on and let Plex do the work. This seems to have fixed it.
One drive does have a bad sector so I will replace it ASAP.
