Synology ds119j - "A problem has been detected with a core component of Plex Media Server."

Server Version#: DSM 6.2.2-24922 Update 4
Player Version#: 1.16.5.1552-8e8d0c785

Hey all, tried to set up a Synology ds119j server. Connected to the internet, and occasionally it will get to the main Plex screen when accessing it through the Package Centre on Synology, then it will revert to the error screen saying that “A problem has been detected with a core component of Plex Media Server.”

On my Plex account it shows the server, but that the server is “unreachable.” Tried to uninstall and reinstall, no avail. Help would be v much appreciated.

I see a couple things but for what you’re seeing:

Force Control-F5 the browser window to PMS. It looks like timing. If it is timing, CTRL-F5 will resolve it.

As for other issues:

You have 3 IPv6 addresses on eth0 ?

PMS won’t use V6. If you’re not using them, I recommend turning IPv6 OFF at the adapter.

The other thing which can be done, odd as it may be, restart DSM and let PMS sit for 2 minutes after DSM restarts before accessing it.

Control-F5 worked, thank you! Managed to get to the main Plex page, and update Plex to the most recent version. Unfortunately, am now getting the “Your changes could not be saved” error when trying to add folders to my library: https://imgur.com/LcsNXV1

Any ideas?

Yep.

  1. Restart DSM
  2. Give it 2-3 minutes after start for Plex to settle.
  3. Now open it.

We do this because whatever got it hung up (usually a busy database) will have resolved itself by then after restart.

Tried restarting it, still no luck I’m afraid.

Download the Log files manually ( ZIP file created in File Station) from the Plex share.

Syno FAQ link w/ how-to in my profile.

So initally, it worked; managed to sync up a Movies folder, upload something, and it appeared in Plex. Unfortunately, when I clicked on it, it now says there’s an unexpected error loading libraries. Remote access also has a small red exclamation mark next to it. Now it’s working again, so the film is visible, but when I go to play it, it says “Error code: s1001 (Network)” - this is all in the space of typing this message.

Thanks for your help (and your patience)
