Synology DS918+ Plex pauses and then playback not possible after 30 minutes into a movie

You’re not bothering me. These things sometimes take time.

I can also tell you there is a version of PMS, in QA now, which addresses a lot of what’s being seen. IF we’re lucky and it lives up to what Engineering found, it will fix all these issues for everyone. <fingers_crossed>

Fingers crossed indeed. Thanks again.

27:53 is my nemesis for any movie. It worked for 1 movie the whole way through this week. But it quit out again.

Attached are the Plex Logs. If anyone can make heads or tails of this and let me know how I can fix it. I’d love it. I don’t think the NAS is even transcoding. It is simply streaming the already 1080p file to a 1080p display.

Thank you. I see it.

It makes the audio selection, begins and is streaming along flawlessly.
It then reaches a point where the requests [Auth] and never get a [Completed]. This is a hang.

PMS 1.11.3.4803-c40bba82e is now available for download (Plex Pass).
As I understand the internal release notes, they’ve fixed this one.

Would you mind trying it? Keep your SPK of 1.10.1 handy until we know otherwise

Installed, will update with feedback on new version soon.

Streamed a whole movie with no issues this morning, was feeling good about this new version. Then started up a second to see if it would continue to be solid. 27:53 reared its head.

Logs attached.

Do you think upgrading to 16gb of RAM would make a difference? I have 8gb in it now.

I am not convinced it is the server. Nothing points to it. Everthing points to the player

I’m using the Plex ap installed in the Sony TV. Do you think it is the issue?

If you play on anything else and exceed that timestamp, you have proof it’s the Sony app

OK. Well that gives me something to explore.

Just curious what would you recommend for a player? (Roku, Amazon Fire stick, etc…)

Any of them, tablet browser, web player, any of them.

@ChuckPA update. You nailed it. I put a Roku stik in the TV and it streams like a dream. The picture even looks nicer than the ap installed on the Sony TV.

Thanks so much for looking into this.

:+1: Glad it’s resolved.
