Synology DS920+ & DSM 7.2.2: Plex Manual Install Nightmare!

Server Version#: v.1.41.6.9685-d301f511a
Player Version#:
I’m currently using a Synology DS-920+ with DSM 7.2.2-72806 Update 3.

When I upgrade PMS using Manual Install within the Package Center, Plex frequently stops running. I then have to go into the Package Center and click ‘Run’ for it to work again, which is really frustrating. If I use the PMS version available directly in the Package Center, this issue doesn’t occur, but it’s version 1.40.4.8840-72008840. With this version, my Plex apps on iPhone, iPad, and Macbook require a higher version, specifically v.1.41.6.9685-d301f511a, before I can access my movie and music libraries in PMS. Otherwise, they display a warning icon.

To avoid this, I’ve tried installing Plex on Docker, but it seems to run extremely slowly there. I suspect it’s not working correctly because even when I set it to direct stream to my playback devices, it still seems to transcode, and the playback isn’t as smooth as it was when running directly on my Synology NAS.

What can I do to resolve this issue?

Can you provide me the server’s DEBUG logs ZIP file (downloaded from PMS)
–or–

Make a ZIP of the Logs directory under Plex Media Server with PMS stopped ?

Either there’s DB corruption or there’s a lot of data for DB migrations as you install the newer versions.

(I’m suspecting corruption/damage because you can’t seem to upgrade)

Yes, here is the log file. I just removed PMS from my Docker and manually installed the BETA RELEASE version 1.41.7.9749-ce0b45d6e (April 29, 2025). It is currently scanning my data, so I will probably have to wait some time to monitor if this issue persists. If this situation continues, what should I do?

That’s a damaged DB.

Also, I would not recommend using the BETA release at this point.
( Don’t know what caused the DB issue )

Do you know how to SSH into your Syno and get to root command line level?

If so, I recommend giving this a shot to cleanup the native package
( Keep the docker off for now )

Please read the README.md.

Do not hesitate to ask questions (there’s a lot of info there)

Okay, that sounds like a plan. Perhaps after the BETA version finishes retrieving the metadata, I will consider reinstalling the official release of PMS. I will monitor it for a while and get back to you on this thread with an update soon. I appreciate your attention and help in resolving this.
Thank you and best regards.
