Took Synology update to DSM 7.2.2-72806, now Plex no longer working

I tried to install the latest version of Plex, but it said its not compatible.
“Current package version is 1.41.0.8994-70008994. You cannot roll back to the older version 1.41.0.8992-70008992”

I’m able to access my NAS from my computer, just not Plex.

please help!

I also upgraded to DSM 7.2.2 and PMS v.1.41.2.9134-3391644e0. Now unable to open any media file where it s the first in a series. i.e. the first photo in a album the first track of an album, the first episode of a series and any movie file bc i assume there all the first. Is this a known bug. Any suggestions.

Did you change the permissions for the media shared folders?

Going to need your server DEBUG logs ZIP file.
There is too much going on to guess.

I was running DSM 7 for a couple years perfectly fine, you assisted me with that. I upgrade my Synology NAS, part of the process was a upgraded to DSM 7.2.2 and subsequently had to upgrade PMS. It will play all media just not the first in a series, unfortunately that means any movies. Any instructions on generating debug log file.

Thanks

  1. Ensure server configured for debug, not verbose, log level.
    Settings → Server_Name → General + Show Advanced

  2. Stop Plex Media Server. Wait 1 minute.

  3. Start Plex Media Server. Wait 3 minutes for server to fully start and log startup sequence.

  4. Recreate problem. Try to play a movie, tv episode, etc.

  5. Pull log files: Settings → Troubleshooting.

  6. Upload entire ZIP file to the thread.

Will send file shortly;

I don’t remember what we did here.

Where is this folder ?

After today’s warning mail of Synology, I updated my NAS from 7.2.0 to 7.2.2-72806. After the update, Plex (1.41.1.9057-72009057) did not start, “version unsupported”.

I manually reinstalled the same Plex version, now everything is working just fine again.

Yes, Updating to the dsm72 package is required.
(Synology mandate)

ChuckPa,

This was a while back when I had trouble tv live recording. One suggestion was to create a temp transcoding folder where I had write permission. This has been resolved. I can remove that the request to create it. That also was maybe under DSM 6.X. In any event do you think this is has something to do with not being able to open any media files.

Thanks

Should I leave this field blank will it default to a default folder.

@Panda3012,

I did exact thing but was prompted and I install PMS v.1.41.2.9134-3391644e0 now having all sorts of issues.

@nwstewart59

Yes, Blank that field. You’ll get the default.

When you put a value there, especially on Synology, it must be the full DSM-specific path.

@ChuckPa,

Thanks I did that, any luck with the media playing issue, should i generate new debug file.

You still cannot play media?

Please create a new debug / playback session so I can see it

EDIT:

Make absolutely certain there isn’t a space (blank) character in that field.
If there is, it won’t be visible but will cause PMS to fail.
(Plex/web does not perform any validation of what you type there).

@ChuckPa,

Made sure field was blank, still cant play media, I have attached a debug logs.

Thanks

Never done this before, i will follow these instructions;

and I’ll use PlexMediaServer.

Does “x.y.z” refer to the version of Pex I am using i.e.

Lastly to start a Command Line session in Synology DSM I use this app.

Thanks
