Server Version#: Uninstalled
Player Version#: Uninstalled
Hello,
I’m wondering if you could help me as cant find information on the forums. Also couldn’t find a simple way to contact support for help.
I am a paying plex user. Last night I’ve upgraded my Synology NAS (918+) from DSM 6 to DSM 7 as I thought it would resolve other NAS problems I had. I have upgraded so without knowing there is an article explaining the steps required for the migration. After the upgrade to DSM7, Plex App on the NAS was broken so I’ve used the ‘repair’ option. It failed a few times but was eventually fixed and launched. The problem started when I’ve added some files to one of the video libraries. Plex didn’t pick up the new movies. I’ve tried to rescan the library and all the libraries but it still didn’t come up. I was looking on the web version via Chrome browser. All my ‘old’ content was there but just not the new movies. When I went to the ‘Edit’ options of the library, the right path was there but weirdly, when I try to browse for another library, Plex doesn’t pick up anything other than '\volume 2\Plex Media Storage (the top folder where I keep all media on my NAS). There weren’t any other subfolders under that top one, being recognized by Plex even though they are there and have always been used by Plex. So after many tries to trigger the new content to appear on plex, Including restarting the NAS, I have uninstalled the Plex app from DSM (used the middle option of “unclaim this server” but keep media). I went to Media Server Downloads | Plex Media Server for Windows, Mac, Linux, FreeBSD and More and chose Synology DSM 7 from the list. Then chose '[ARMv7 (x15 Series (excluding DS115j and RS815), x16 Series (excluding DS216se), x17 Series, x18 Series, and DS414j)] as my version is DS918+.
But when I upload this to the DSM to install, it tells me that “this package is not supported on the platform of DiskStation or is incompatible with the current DSM version”.
I am not sure what I am doing wrong as this is clearly the category that applied to my NAS. The current DSM Version on my NAS is DSM 7.0.1-42218.
In summary:
- I need to know if I am doing the right thing of re-installing Plex on the NAS or do I need to do any other preparation/cleanups?
- ALso- how to get the right version of Plex to install on the DSM 7.
- Lastly, is this a known issue with Plex and DSM 7 about not picking up content and directories?
Thanks a lot for your help. would appreciate any direction you can give me. Thanks.
