Synology dsm 7 upgrade

Server Version#:
Player Version#:

Hi I’ve just upgraded the dam on my synology 218+ since then all my movie files disappeared but were playable in video station. I’ve managed to get them appearing in the plex server and they play on my laptop but won’t play on any other device such as my Sony bravia tv (worked fine before upgrade)

Tried thus and nothing works still

Same here, I am at a loss right now. My daughter has no Paw Patrol!

Folks,

where are the files stored? (shared folder name?)

Are they in the Synology-provided video share or in something you created yourself ?

Can’t find the files at all they show up in videostation but can’t move them from there unless you know how to

@davies_i4_sky_com

Where did you put your files?

Open File Station, look around, maybe the “video” share?

They are your files. Where did you put them?

Hi,

I am running the latest Plex Server version in my Synology 220+, with DSM 7.0. Since upgrading, I have the following error message, in some videos “Conversion failed. The transcoder failed to start up.”

Any Help? Thanks
A Jorge

Isn’t that just to add a file. To video station. I’ve put ds video on my TV now and that plays media fine but plex doesn’t play anything and I can’t find where the movie files have gone since DSM7 update I can see them in plex and play them in plex on my laptop but not on any other device I just want to find where the files have gone

4th EDIT: Plex appears to be slowly regaining the ability to play media, but it is still unclaimed and thinks I am not logged in even when I clearly am.

3rd EDIT: Erasing the old [Plex] share had no effect on Plex’s ability to let me claim the server and play my media.

2nd EDIT: Even the nuclear option does not work, erasing all data in the uninstall. I attempted to reinstall Plex and claim the server and Plex still cannot do anything. Thumbnails don’t appear to work either, although Plex appears to be trying to re-index my entire library.

EDIT: Never mind, I erased plex and started over.

Plex is currently installed in volume3 of my DS1815+, which has my SSD cache on it. My shares are located in volume 2. It used to work fine before I upgraded to DSM7. I followed the steps and granted PlexMediaServer full control of every share it gets media from.

Currently my errors are as follows:

  1. “This server is unclaimed and not secure.” Attempting to claim it fails every time.
  2. " Version 1.24.0.4930 An update is available. (Please install manually.) (Media Server Downloads | Plex Media Server for Windows, Mac, Linux, FreeBSD and More)" even though I have installed the latest Intel 64-bit version for Synology DSM 7.
  3. None of my media will play. None. I can see my thumbnails, but playback is impossible in every client be it internet browser, iOS, or Android. “Conversion failed. A required codec could not be found or failed to install.”

Any ideas?

trumpy81 thanks for the reply. I did as you asked and I get the following error when I attempt to log into my Synology Plex Server:

“Not authorized
You do not have access to this server”

I should add that I get the “Plex Media Server successfully claimed by [USERNAME]” message when the installation completes.

//file deleted//
Here you go.

Ah, DNS! Thanks, that did the trick!

I just want to pipe in on the DSM 7 upgrade. On my Android televisions only (so far) I get “Error - An error occurred while attempting to play this video. Please check your connection and try again.” It’s working fine on my laptop and it’s working fine on the Apple TVs. Note, this exact problem exists on four Sony televisions.

Edit: Roku is also working fine.

IF you have problems only with Android, Please create a thread tagged for Android.
It’s not a server issue.
