Synology DSM7: Not Authorized

Right, but the new file (movie in this case) isn’t being added to library.

That worked!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

Hi Chuck

I have been following this post and have reinstalled Plex fresh using the Claim Token method as I first got Not Authorised. I am still getting the Not Authorised message despite a successful install and saying my token was excepted. I attach my logs so that you can maybe pinpoint the issue. I am quite tech-savvy and my Network is hard-wired with the Synology NAS on a fixed local IP of 192.168.1.18 through Synology Router on 192.168.1.1. The DNS servers in the router are the default ones from my ISP.Logs.zip (98.7 KB)

Using the button in Package Center doesn’t work anymore (reliably).

Synology has injected the “quickconnect.to” domain name in the process which creates a “man-in-the-middle” scenario that plex will block.

Best advice is to open the Syno by IP address and set a bookmark until after you have it fully configured.

Once everything is fully configured, you are free to use the button.

Many thanks, that fixed it!

THANK YOU!!!
It works!!!
You are the best!!!

please elaborate, what does "Best advice is to open the Syno by IP address and set a bookmark until after you have it fully configured.

For most users, When you open Package Center and look at the Plex app,

in the URL field, you will see your QuickConnect.to URL.

This is what you can’t click until after Plex is claimed on your account.

If you aren’t using QuickConnect, you’ll see something like this

Which is the LAN IP of your Synology. You can safely click this link.

Thanks for elaborating. How do i claim Plex on my synology account?

@giolovesgod_gmail_com

Uninstall the Package (1.25.2) with the “KEEP” option

Now reinstall the package again -

  1. Install using “Plex Claim Token” option

  2. Click “Get Plex Claim Token”

  3. Browser opens

  4. New token presented

  5. “COPY” to your browser

  6. Return to the installer menu.

  7. PASTE into the form.

  8. NEXT —> until it starts installing

  9. The installer will communicate with plex.tv directly (just like Plex/web does) but then writes your credentials into your “Preferences.xml” file for you.

  10. When the installaton is complete, Confirm it shows your Plex account name (this is proof there are no networking issues)

  11. Exit Package Center

  12. Open a browser window and open HTTP:// IP. ADDR. OF. Syno:32400/web
(don’t use Quick Connect or app.plex.tv)

I have followed this link and instruction and still have a problem.
So far I haver uninstalled and reinstall using the instructions provided to giolovesgod I have also went so far as doing a factory reset on my synology. each time I install using the above instructions I either get you are not authorized or it come up with the add your media to Plex with the “GET PLEX MEDIA SERVER” link. I am running DSM 7 on a Synology 1621+ any help would be useful.
Sincerely,
DST

Are you aware your server is not using a RFC-1918 IP address ?

To be RFC-1918 compliant, you need 192.168.1.170 (and likely fix all of your LAN)

Hi, I am using a Synology 920+ machine with 7.0.1 system and I have a problem when I do a clean uninstall and reinstall of the previously installed PlexMediaServer.
When I try to install “PlexMediaServer-1.25.7.5604-980a13e02-x86_64_DSM7.spk” with a token, I have difficulty in communicating with plex.tv. After I finish the installation in the previous way, I can see the NAS in the LAN, but I can’t get the server settings when I click on the declared server. I observed that the content in the Preferences.xml file is not complete and PlexOnlineToken="" is empty inside the quotation marks. Can you please give the solution, and have attached Logs and databases, thank you.
