Cannot access server

Server Version#:1.21.0-3744
Player Version#:Any
So one day my server is not accessible. I get this at the login screen “This application is at 192.168.1.23 and is not hosted by Plex. Continue only if you recognize this server and wish to grant access.” When I login, i get my shared accounts but not my server. If I log into my phone, or my appletv on the same network, it sees my server and library. But off network and into remote, its not there. I googled everything and tried to delete the preferences.xml but they dont seem to show up on any system

I am at a complete loss

I would use Server credential reset utility for Linux-based platforms

It’s as if all the tech weenies decided to turn on strict DNS-Rebinding protection everywhere because they thought we would all be out drinking and wouldn’t notice.

There is a lot here to unpack.

Version 1.21.0-3744 and Synology, that is a pretty old version and I suspect you got hung up during a DSM6 to DSM7 upgrade. You can try your hand at the how to’s or yell for ChuckPA Synology FAQ - Questions, Answers, and a few How-To's

DNS Rebinding - check for these messages in your ‘Plex Media Server.log’

Plex Media Server.1.log:Dec 31, 2022 11:32:16.808 [0x7f46037060d0] ERROR - getaddrinfo(192-168-1-1.abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz012345.plex.direct) failed: -2
Plex Media Server.1.log:Dec 31, 2022 11:32:16.808 [0x7f46037060d0] DEBUG - Network: 192-168-1-1.abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz012345.plex.direct failed to resolve to 192.168.1.1 but instead yielded ""

Clients may work locally but browsers won’t. Remote access is another thing to work on after the DNS is sorted. What router do you have?

I think this is the route, but as stated, I cannot find the preferences.xml and the page you linked, is foreign language to me, unless there’s a video, I’m not that computer savvy

@ChuckPa Can you walk the user thru this? Chuck have you thought about creating a syno video?

Which model Synology?

DS1821+

Looks like I need a complete sentence to reply

The DSM 7 installer can fix its own credentials

@dbirch

I did the FAQ with pictures + wrote it slowly because I know you don’t read very fast

Hardy har har. I hate video tutorials myself, but several users have mentioned the request for video guidance which is why I said something.

Thanks for the reply! So, something is not lining up here. I get the uninstall screen, I get the option to keep, sign out and unclaim, or erase all data. I did the first option like you stated, but I do not know where you are getting this “Claim Code” I am not seeing that pop up anywhere along the way or within my plex. And just for shitts and giggles, I chose the sign out and unclaim, and still no resolve.

@plexbuddypass Please see the linked FAQ, you did step 1 (the uninstall) now you need to move to step 2

Installed same sdk, no option for claim code was ever given, just “install”, then installed. Opened Plex after installed, and then signed in.

Are things working?

No, same as before, don’t have access to my server with the, “there’s a server on this ip address”

What version did you install?

Same as before 1.21.0-3744

Please install the current package. 1.21 is VERY old.

ok, so I guess there are five different SDKs for synology… I found the one that is for my setup, I got the claim code now. after entering that in, it fails at installing with this error message

"Failed to install package
ERROR: Could not cmplete dialog with Plex.tv. Unable to claim.

Either installation was too long or difficulties communication with Plex.tv exist.

Please try again or seek assistance in our Support Forum."

That sounds like a DNS issue on the syno
