Synology DSM7: Not Authorized

I recently upgraded to DSM 7 and am having some issues. When I install Plex and go to login in, I am told I am not authorized to access my server. I found a work around, and when I get into the server, I am told my NAS is offline, which it isn’t. I have checked the permissions, and they are as they should be.

I uninstalled and went back to the beta, but Plex wasn’t picking up new files. I uninstalled everything and am back to not authorized message, not matter what I do as far as the beta or the online version.

Any help is great appreciated. Thank you.

There is an easy solution. I built it into the installer.

  1. Uninstall the package , select the default KEEP option
  2. Reinstall the same SPK file. However –
  3. Select the “Plex Claim Token” option.
  4. Click “Get Plex Claim Token”.
  5. The browser will open to your Plex account and a token will show
  6. COPY it
  7. Return to the installer window and paste it into the box. It will look like this

  1. Click Next and confirm to install.

  2. It will install the package then take an additional 15-20 seconds to communicate with Plex.tv and claim the server to your Plex account.

  3. When finished, if all successful, you’ll get the final popup confirming it’s claimed and all is good

  4. Now you can go back to the browser, CTRL-F5 (to force the reload)

  5. Your server will again be listed.

Thanks Chuck.

That seemed to have cleared the “Not Authorized” part, however my server is not listed.

Correction, I was able to get past the “Not authorized” message once. It is back now.

Once you do that forced-reload (Control-F5) in the browser, it will always come back into the left pane.

(It fetches a fresh list from Plex.tv)

It is not working. I can log in once. When I do the force refresh, i get the Unauthorized message. I have to completely close the browser, then login in. I can login, but the sever is still not listed. The only serve listed is my friend’s.

Show me please?

Also go into the PlexMediaServer/AppData/Plex Media Server folder.
Right-click LogsCompress to Logs.zip

Download and attach that.

I suspect a networking issue for it to be so intermittent. (is the server on WiFi?)

The server is hard wired. It is a Synology DS418 running DSM 7. Logs.zip (313.2 KB)

Thank you for them.

I found it immediately.

DNS resolver isn’t functioning (Control Panel - Network).

Please check it out . You might need to switch to Google 8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4 if your ISP is being stubborn

Changed the DNS on the NAS to 8.8.8.8 respectively.

I can now log into the sever, when I do the force refresh, the NAS is still not listed.

Just checking to see if you any other ideas.

Sorry. I didn’t gt a notification again.

Please do the uninstall + Keep and reinstalll + Claim Token method again now that we know your DNS is working.

Chuck, good news!! It is back up an running! My only issue is Plex isn’t adding the new movie which led to this whole thing. Anything that was already in the Plex library before my melt down is there. The new files are not, even though Plex rescanned the whole library.

@Henricks04

May I have the Logs ZIP file please?

(You know I’m going to ask for it… :smiling_imp: )

Ask away. If you can help me fix this, I’ll send logs all dayLogs 2.zip|attachment (2.9 MB)

Chuck, any luck?

@ChuckPa you are my only hope! Lol. I just making sure you getting the alert that you saw my logs.

Hopefully it works this time. Here you go…

Logs.zip (3.5 MB)

Okay, so I tried a Mac with different browsers, then a PC with different browsers. No luck. I did a scan, and then compressed the log files, which are attached. Logs.zip (2.3 MB)

Done, still no luck. Is there anything I can adjust with the file name/folder it is in, the file is .mkv if that is adding tot he issue?

Logs (1).zip (1.9 MB)

The second part of my issue is that Plex was adding new files to my library.

The fist issue, of being unable to access the server was resolved.
