Synology - How do I undo my botched DSM7 migration?

I’m sorry you’ve had problems.

  1. upgrade to DSM 7 – Good

  2. Package Center repair – bad but easily recovered from

  3. please explain “this didn’t succeed”

  4. uninstall - KEEP option (not sign out or delete ) – Good (this keeps all the data)

  5. Legacy Plex folder – what is the capitalization please? Should be plex or Plex. I will help you fix that if desired (should have been a “Migration.log” regardless)

  6. Attempt again to install the DSM 7 package - unsuccessfully – please detail

Please confirm the error message Synology is giving you? I think you’re getting the DSM timeout error (which is lame but manageable).

Did you review my migration instructions here

Or review the updated package structure which is effective 1.24.2.4973 ?

Initial steps to complete this migration

  1. Control Panel - Security – Set the timeout value to 65535 & OK that. You can change back later

  2. Sign out of DSM & back in (so the new timeout becomes effective)

  3. SSH into the box again.
    a. look for /volume*/@apphome/PlexMediaServer
    b. in there should be “Plex Media Server” if your data is indeed intact
    c. in that Plex Media Server directory will be all the directories you expect (Media, Metadata, etc, and your Preferences.xml file)

Let me know your findings.
