Synology Moments and PMS reading library pad

Server Version#: 1.18.5.2309

On my new NAS Synology 220+ I keep all my photos and videos using the app Moments. Moments uses the Synology Drive app to store the content. To be able to see all my content on the Apple TV I’d like to use Plex. Synology hasn’t a solution to do so (yet).

So far all is setup and running, except for the library. I used the pad /volume1/homes/Username/Drive/Moments where all the photos and videos are stored, but PMS isn’t able too find the files.

Is there anyone who has tried to use PMS combined with Moments and got this all working properly?

Sounds like a permission issue.
You need to allow Plex accessing that folder/share for it to be able to pick up on the pictures.

To add to Tom,

Synology is very strict about permissions.

To that end, can you have Moments store the photos in a regular shared folder and not your Synology ‘Home’ ?

It will make administration and permission much easier.

It was a permission problem like Tom was suggesting, this fixed it for me:

  • The most common, which is also a required step, and easiest to do, is grant access to the Shared Folder where the media is being stored. Always do this step first.
    a. Control Panel
    b. Shared Folders
    c. EDIT the share containing the media
    d. Permissions tab
    e. Check the box (Read only or R/W) to grant user ‘Plex’ access.

Changing the location in Moments isn’t possible. Luckily Plex is flexible enough. Thank you both for your reply. This was very helpful.
