Synology: new storage pool, how to keep meta data

Server Version DSM 7.0-41890:

Hello,

i justed buy a new HDD to upgrade the storage on my nas, but i have to recreate a new storage pool because my actual can’t have more than 16 To in it.
so i will have to move all my data from my actual pool to a new one created on my actual nas to upgrade the max capacity of the pool (yes, it a real pleasure)

i just wanted to know what i have to do to keep all my meta data from plex? i mean, all the indexaction of movie and series, and the information that a user allready seen or not a movie (i don’t know if there is other meta data from plex?

I also have tautulli instaled on my nas with docker, how can i keep the data from tautulli?

thanks!

Is this the same Synology / pool that’s hosting your Plex Media Server?
If it’s only “a” storage for your server, the gist of things is to disable Settings > [Server Name] > Library > Automatically empty trash after scan.

Otherwise you’ll need to treat this as full-fledged server migration.

thanks for your answer.

i have one big volume on my nas, there is my media and my packege( including plex) on it. and i need to move all this stuff on a new volume that i have just create. at first i just wanted to move all the Folder from my “old” volume to my “new” one. but if i do this wil i lose the data about plex? because the data about plex aren’t in a Folder that i can manage( called a shared Folder on synology).

so i have to do a full fiedged server migration.
in the link you sent there is:
"

Copy Additional Server Settings From the Source System

Linux and NAS Devices

The equivalent additional server settings are included in the regular server data directory, so you don’t need to do anything extra for them."

but if i delete all my actual volume, the server data directory will be deleted ?

thanks for you answer one more time

You might be a bit too quick for Plex

oh

there were a feature like this on dsm 6.2?

so what i am suppose to do now?

Please be patient with me.

I have had less than one month to create a new solution now that DSM 7.0-41890 is finalized.

yes no probleme! take your time ! i didn’t want to stress you

i didn’t really get, there were a feature on dsm 6.2 that need to be updated, and that what you are working on? or are you working on a new solution to backup lib on dsm 7 ?

i also don’t really get hoe it should work, if i copy my folder from my old volume to my new one, what i am going to lose ?

Why things must be always complicated?
Why not to add function to backup libs to let’s say to PlexLibBackup shared folder?
Why users need to ask where my backup is located?
Well, they will ask this anyway.

@axel1254

Why must it be complicated? – Ask Synology.

You appear to have neglected to read any of my posts regarding all the problems DSM 7 caused and what I am still attempting to do to make everyone’s life easier.

You might also want to read the archive and learn how long we’ve been struggling with this .
