Synology package thread

Ah, ok. I got the Bromolow idea by actually looking at the INFO file in the PMS .spk.
(yes, I already guessed it was a .tgz with another name, just as .ipk)
In the INFO file architecture is specified as x64 Bromolow, but maybe that was only the toolchain used?
The kernel config to be used for 1511+ should probably be x86_64 then.

Thanks. If this ever gets to become a .spk I let you know. I most likely will need some assistance with the packaging
unless the dox are fool-proof ;)

I did the upgrade last night, wasn't sure if there was any right or wrong way to do it..... In the end I didn't do any uninstall, I just downloaded and installed over the top of the existing package. Everything installed without issue and I was able to access Plex via my pc without issue.

The main reason for getting Plex setup was to use it with Google TV on the Revue. Seeing though I'm still waiting for the honeycomb update I havn't had a Plex client to test my setup further. In the end I purchased a copy of Plex for Android on my Samsung SG2, connected at home streaming 720p without issue over wireless. I then setup the port forwarding on my router and tested over the internet and this worked too. The quality wasn't the same but it was mostly functional in the cbd area.

Oh and the install version in package manager on the Synology still showed as 9.2.8 from memory. I remember the last release didn't have the package info on the version updated. Is this also the case with this update? My understanding is the access for internet connections to Plex was only introduced in this release is that correct?

The connection quality seemed to lack a little when I was out for a drive around the mountains... did a little boosting in the GTR and got it working on a few places and failed to connect in others despite a 3G connection being available in all places.

A Deep Scan took care of the problem. I thought it was a stacking problem but it was a merging problem. I guess I don't know what a stacking problem is. Either way, all is good now. Thanks.

I just install the new software on my 1511, and it keeps buffering why is that. I’m trying to watch movies through gigabit on my new mac mini… Any idea why this is happening

I have the new version and it works a lot better than the previous, all hail to the developers, my question is that if i add a folder to a selection eg, tv series and add firefly folder and it finds it fine but not all of the episodes are found. 4 out of 14 are showing, i have tried to force a rescan but none are added, tried fiddling with the metadata but none added, tried putting them in separate folders eg season1 and season2 but not working. Not sure now how to add them, any help thanks

ok a minor fix by renumbering fom episode 01 to 14 i fixed the main problem of not all being found , now they are just two are in the wrong order 01 and 11. will try plan B

ok plan B didnt work but by splitting the files upinto 2 folders marked season 1 and 2 i at least got all the shows displayed but two are in the wrong order, is there a way to adjust the separate file names whilst they are in the folder on the server, easily? Is this happening because there was only one season of firefly and there is no other metadata for it, so the TVDB server is not able to split it into 2 season properly and why i cant add a photo to the season 2 folder as there wasnt a season 2? I am an amateur at this but I like what U have seen and used so far. thanks again

I know I had some movies/shows that are endlessly buffering in the latest version.
It's more of a Linux (or maybe cross-platform) issue, so if a thread does not exist, it would be a good thing to do one, with log extracts (it's in /volume1/Plex/Library/Logs/Plex Media Server.log).

As a fellow Browncoat, that's a real issue. :D
I think that you need to use the basic file naming convention (Firefly S01E01) to correctly add the episodes inside Plex, and re-scan. That's how Plex "guesses" an episode.
You can put them all in a single folder; at least, that's what I did.

Also, since it will come out just afterwards: here's the DVD Order .bundle http://forums.plexapp.com/index.php/topic/21141-dvd-order-agent/page__view__findpost__p__201097 to add to /volume1/Plex/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Plug-ins.
When you installed this one, you can right-click on the show and use theTVDB DVD order. Which is important for Firefly, given the erratic airing schedule.

thanks i will try it later today and let you know how it turned out. thanks again

fixed my issues with firefly thanks guys

Hi all!

I’m a big NooB when it comes to Plex.

I just installed the spk on my DS411+II, everything went OK, but now I’m at the management page (http://<ip.to.nas>:32400/manage/index.html) and there I have to fill in an account (username & password).

But I don’t know what account to use, I treid the admin/root account, my personal account and I also gave the plex account a new password and treid that one, but stil I can’t logon…

Can anyone slap me in the face and tell me what account I need to use?

Thanks in advance!

Hello!

I tried to add a new scraper (OFDB) by adding the according folder + content into the Plug-In folder. It appears in the list of Agents but what ever I change in the Agents settings is not saved. I cannot even activate the scraper because after re-opening the Agents section it is disabled again.

Any suggestions?

I have just installed plex to my Synology 1511+ with DSM 3.2-1922. It seems to run ok. But if I add a section eg. TV Shows. none of my files will appear.

It just does nothing.

Any thoughts?

Synology 411+

DSM 3.2-1955

when i go into package center and try to install the spk, i select the file and click next. it just says processing and stops and then gives me the option to click next again and repeats. what am i doing wrong?

It will not work in Firefox. Only with Safara. I had the same issue

I had to restart my synology system now when I go the https//192.168.9:3200/manage/index.html It reports that it can not find it. I can ping the IP with no problem. Package Center report that Plex media server is running

What can i do

coldrider your ip address is wrong not to mention your missing the colon. https://192.168.?.9:32400/manage should be all thats required. Also check to make sure your router isn’t on dhcp and giving out a new ip address.

HI playstation87 this is what I have below. the error reads, Safari can't open the page because the server is not responding. I can login into the server through the web, but not with the plex media manager.

Hey guys,

I have asked the above question a few times and had no response. any ideas? Please; some help or thoughts would be appreciated....

are you pointing the TV Shows to a folder with video files? Can you copy the directory listing and paste it here? When remotely logged into the DS1511+ type “ls -al”.

Thanks zelig2. I am have previously been using the Plex server on a mac mini and then connecting to that server with a few other mac mini's around my house. Which worked very well.
I have kept the same directory structure; which is "TV Shows/24/s01/s01e01.avi"
Sorry for the question also; but where and how do I type "ls-al"??

Cheers!

To remote into the machine open up Terminal on your mac, type

ssh root@10.0.0.100 (or whatever your IP of your DS1511+ is)

cd /volume1

Now in that directory you should have put your video folder somewhere. On my machine I called it video.

cd video

Once you’re in the correct directory then run the command

ls -al

I get the below error:

eLiTe-Desktop-iMac:~ chrisjelavell$ ssh root@10.0.0.6
ssh: connect to host 10.0.0.6 port 22: Connection refused
