Did you ever get your buffering issue corrected? I'm seeing the same thing on my Synology box. I ran some tests using a Windows machine as my PMS and documented my results here:
http://forums.plexapp.com/index.php/topic/35344-plex-transcoder/page__view__findpost__p__225173
Is there a way to do something similar on the Synology server?
How can I restrict access to the plex media manager on my synology for other (non admin) users ?
Plex doesn’t show up as an application that I can restrict access to in the user settings >> application privileges.
This means that all other users on my NAS can manage my Plex Media server (the icon show up on their login screens)
If anybody has any idea’s how to fix it, i would really like to hear it. thx !
No not seeing it now... I delete a movie off of my server, after doing that it seemed the problem went away? Not sure if that file was causing a problem.
I just install the new software on my 1010+. Now I have the problem, that the Synology will not go into the Sleep-Mode. Is there a way to do something? Thx
My installation on DS-712+ is finished. All fine so far, scan is on the way !
Looks all fine from my clients so far !
Thanks Elan for this package
By the way, is there any additional steps to do after installation of the package like limitation of Plex user rights?
(never knows what can happen with default user rights especially if ports for synology are open to the outside world to allow streaming to mobile devices)

Hi,
my PMS is running on a DS1511+ for quite a while now and basically runs well. Unfortunately from time to time it is inaccessible and only rebooting the DS or restarting PMS via ssh brings it back to life. Is there any way to investigate where this maybe coming from?
Thanks for any hint. I’ll be glad to help fixing.
really noone? Probably any automatic restart solution?
Sorry for the lack of responses from me, but Christmas, New Year (and a happy one to you), and now I’m mildly sick.
Most of the issues (logging in, having to restart, some files buffering forever) are mostly Linux issues, and outside of my realm.
For those, check with Elan/Tobias, those are the go-to guys.
The only one which could be in my “stuff” is the user one from Plexio.
I do not have multiple users on my machine, but on the other hand, I never saw any “user-specific” config in the Synology specs for SPKs (as in “add those users to run the package, deny all the others”), and the same goes for displaying the icon. Also, it wouldn’t stop anyone to access the URL directly.
What you would want is more “user gestion” on the server side; some users to modify, some users to display.
No idea what’s the status on this; again, go-to guys.
Also also, I think I will progressively stop developing for the Synology package, since the auto-builds from Tobias take care of the delivery process.
My scripts have matured (and are ok according to Synology guidelines), and all issues right now are, as I stated before, Elan’s domain.
I may try to build an ARM or PPC package later this year (I know it’s requested like mad), but Tobias is not confident at all it’s possible, even a bare-bones one.
Hi,
I’m new here and didn’t see this thread. I posted a new thread that might should have been posted here but i would really appreciate if someone could take a look as this:

Thanks!
I have synology 411+ii
I have same problem - unable to connect "http://192.168.1.10:32400/manage"
I am new to linux. Can you please give me the exact steps. Please please please...
this is a great app with great potential…
I am trying to make it work in my environment - New installation (installed 3 times) -
Plex Media Server Version : 0.9.5.2-641fa29
Sunology : 411+II
uname -a : Linux Ba_NAS 2.6.32.12 #1955 SMP Sat Nov 26 14:52:27 CST 2011 x86_64 GNU/Linux synology_x86_411+II
DSM version : 3.2.1955
installed packages : Pytohn utils V 1.2; current connection V1.1; java SE for embedded 7 V 1.7.0_02-005; base utils V1.2 Subsonic V 4.6-019
Installation went successful.
Issues :
from package center -> installed -> plex media server -> more -> http://192.168.1.10:32400/manage/index.html ->" NOT CONNECTING" error “404 not found” (using chrome or safari)
I have roku and I installed client on roku. When i run the Plex it connects to nas box and show Videos and channels as “retrieving” and noting happens.
Please help…
i downloaded the spk file and installed it via the Synology admin gui/package manager and its working ok with a roku client. just dont use IE9 if you are on a windows machine. no linux knowledge needed.
Thanks for the tipp Nudgenudge, but for me it doesn't work. I unchecked both options in the preferences the automatic one and the hourly one, but the HDDs still don't spindown. My SW versions are: 0.9.5.2 Plex for Synology and DSM 3.2-1955. I only use a few services on the NAS. Do you have any further idea what I can do, because if I stop the Plex Server, the HDDs go to sleep so it has to be the Plex...
Should I post any logs?
No need for logs. However, no idea also about how to stop this.
Maybe the "real" devs (Elan/Tobias) heard of something about this? Try them.
Thanks where can I reach them?
The Plex chatroom (mostly evenings if you're European), or create another thread in the Linux section.
Hi,
I seem to have the same problem as chaba03. The installation of the Plex package went smoothly, but I cannot access the management site. The server is not responding. I already tried to solve this problem by rebooting my DS411+. No success. Neither did uninstall/reinstall work.
Anybody has any idea?
Thanks,
Felix

To remote into the machine open up Terminal on your mac, type
ssh root@10.0.0.100 (or whatever your IP of your DS1511+ is)
cd /volume1
Now in that directory you should have put your video folder somewhere. On my machine I called it video.
cd video
Once you’re in the correct directory then run the command
ls -al
I get the below error:
eLiTe-Desktop-iMac:~ chrisjelavell$ ssh root@10.0.0.6
ssh: connect to host 10.0.0.6 port 22: Connection refused
Hi Again.
Any thoughts on the above?
Just upgraded my DS1511+ to 3.2-1955 and Plex stopped working, so I did a full uninstall, clean, reinstall. However, now I can’t get into the management interface because it wants a login/password, and my old one doesn’t work (unsurprisingly). What is the default login/pass?
Nudgenudge,
Question about this Synology package of 9.5.4. Where is the database and metadata information stored in this release of your package?
I originally had the 9.2 (I think) synology package installed on my DS411+II then I upgraded to the 9.5 packages back in November. I just recently encountered an issue where my LG medialink TV client stopped working after I installed Zebulon’s Sabnzbd package. Something got screwed up with Avahi discovery, I think its a bug in his package. Anyway, I needed to uninstall and reinstall Plex server so I backed up the /volume1/Plex/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server directory as outlined here http://forums.plexapp.com/index.php/topic/30578-backup-plex/ and here http://wiki.plexapp.com/index.php/PlexNine_PMS_TipsTricks#Plex_Database_Files. So I just got it all installed again and I restored this directory but when I started up plex I am greeted with my database that is 2+ months old. It tells me that the last time I refreshed the library was November… I am at the exact point when I upgraded to the 9.5.2 version.
In short I still have the tar ball I made just this morning and its doing me no good as its just restoring me to November. This location that I backed up cant be correct anymore. I would like to document this for my future knowledge.
