Was hit by this surprise update and had to search the forums to understand what was happening.
I find the tutorial explaining what to adjust somewhat confusing.
Can more screenshots be added to make it absolutely clear what preference is referred to? Not everybody uses the NAS in english so terminology does not help so much. A screenshot would solve this and prevent users from going to wrong places.
In the “What you need to do:” section are you referring to the File Station and select the content folders from there? Step one says “open control panel” what is that? I have System Preferences. Is that it? To me that is not clear from the KB thread.
In the end the KB thread says " Please don’t hesitate to ask if you have any questions about how to use this to your advantage." Ask where? Because replies to that thread are not possible as it’s closed.
This looks somewhat rushed. Would be great, if a few things could be clarified.
unsure what I am doing wrong opened shared folders and enabled read/write access for plex user. then restarted plex by stopping and starting the service on nas. after that restarted the nas.
But still can’t access my media. @ChuckPa any idea?
my bad. forgot a second shared folder. all set. thanks. in the future would be great to give users a heads-up. this was a surprise and no real way to understand from within plex front or backend what the issue is.
I had everything ready. It was just a surprise. The update wasn’t scheduled to be released so soon (as trumpy stated).
I hope everything I’ve put into my Forum release details provides all the needed information about what the new benefits and protections are as well as an example of how to make the most benefit of it.
If there are any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.
