Server Version#:1.18.5.2309-f5213a238
Player Version#: I do not know
Recently I noticed my Plex Server wasn’t running on my Synology NAS. After manually running it I noticed that I could logon however I was not presented with all the normal users. Also, in the left hadn’t column with all the available servers, I could only see servers that had been shared with me, nothing locally. I can’t even seem to access the local settings to see what’s going on under the hood. I have manually zipped up the logs so hopefully someone can fill me in on what’s going on. Here is a link to that:
This is running on a Synology 3614 running 6.2.4. I have attempted to uninstall and reinstall the application only. That being said, I presume that all the settings folders were kept in place which is why nothing really changed.
I appreaciet you taking the time to give me such detailed responses.
I have done the permission reset as requested as well as installed the latest from the Plex website however this has not resolved the issue. If you need me to grab the logs again, I can, however since the issue still persists I presume they’d be evident in what I’ve already given you.
Looking forward to hearing back from you on what should be the next step please.
Oddly enough if I go to the server’s address via Plex, I am prompted for a login. As mentioned before, however, the other users that are usually shown as available are not there at all.
When going to settings, I am prompted with a limited feature set which I can use to manage another server that has been shared with me: as in other places, my server doesn’t show up at all.
I’d have no problem starting from scratch if there was a way to keep the shared libraries. Can this be done?
You bring up a decent point. I kind of skipped along to accessing my NAS directly via IP address without host name and it seemed to work. It showed me that this unit was not associated with any account (technically accurate since I uninstalled and reinstalled the package). All seems well.
That being said, why can’t I use a hostname to access my Plex instance?
Fascinating. It sounds like it might have been in this mode all along and I just didn’t realize as I was not reaching it properly. Any way to tell what initially caused the issue or are there simply too many logs?
How right you are. That being said, I feel that we may never get to the bottom of this as I’m not sure when the issue began and we’d have to go through a lot of ‘what was done when’ to uncover that. A simple update could have caused my local server to become disassociated with my Plex login which would have given me all the symptoms I was looking at (I never tried IP access - I was always doing host name).
