Synology Plex to dlna receiver

Hi all,

Running synology ds224+ (dsm 7.2) with current Plex and attempting to play music (FLAC) through a Marantz NR1506 receiver via iOS app.

Receiver is not seen in the Plex cast pull-down menu (except via Airplay). I can see the music files through the marantz network manager back to the nas, but this bypasses Plex. Nas and receiver are hardwired through a ubiquiti dream machine pro se and DNLA is on via plex, with permissions allowed through Synology control panel.

Questions are, should Plex see the receiver via dlna? Can it push music to the receiver? Do I need to upgrade to Plex pass for this function?

Thanks!

Is AirPlay not working?

DLNA is between the Marantz receiver DLNA client and the Plex DLNA server. You control it via the receiver’s remote (or maybe a Marantz mobile app). You cannot control it from a Plex app.

Be aware there is a longstanding memory leak in the Plex DLNA server. It may slowly consume all available RAM on the Synology over several days. Monitor RAM usage on the NAS w/ Synology Resource Monitor. Stop/Start Plex Media Server to release the RAM.

You should also be able use Bluetooth. Connect the phone to the receiver, the same way you would connect to a Bluetooth speaker.

Thanks FordGuy!

Yes, AirPlay does connect. I was aiming for higher quality playback, rather than my understanding of how AirPlay can downsample music.

My AV setup is in a separate space so, I was hoping Plex would operate similar to DSAudio or Wiim, where they recognize the receiver within their app and have a DLNA connect option.
