I was thinking today that having the ability to tag a movie or tv title would be a fantastic option. I can see myself being to to create a top level folder based on a tag such as “Christmas Movies,” or “Kids TV Shows.” Is this already implemented on some level? Thanks in advance.
That is already implemented. Open up your Media Manager ( http://PMS-machines-IP:32400/web ) and enter a movie you would like to tag. Instead of pressing Play, simply press the pencil button. It enables you to Edit the metadata. Go down to "Genres" and add a genre called "Christmas". Add that genre on all movies you want to tag as Christmas. Then when using a client you simply choose "By Genre" instead of "All Movies" when entering the section of choice.
Tags like "Christmas" & my personal pet hate "K-pop" (though I love the music to death) are not genres rather tags that tell us stuff like if it is a holiday movie or if the song is in Korean. According to [Metadata Model Class](http://dev.plexapp.com/docs/agents/models.html) tag support is already in your api, so why can't we add tags through the web client. Though personally I'd like to see it expanded to episodes & tracks as well
Yes, my suggestion was a workaround until tags are implemented in the frontend. I do not know when the developers will prioritize to add tags. It think it will be a nice feature for at least parts of the customer base.
