Tautulli - Monitor your Plex Media Server

I installed the beta of the Tautulli Remote on my Galaxy S7 Edge (yes, I realize it’s a beta). I generated a QR code from my working Tautulli on my Win 10 PMS, and scanned it using the app. It enters all the appropriate values (IP, port, API key, etc), but I get … nothing, The Activity screen just spins, I see no Libraries, no History, nothing. The phone is connected to my local Wifi, so they are both on the same internal LAN.

So where do I go from here? Tautulli on my desktop is working fine - I see activity, history, stats, etc. But the remote app shows nothing, not even locally.

Thanks

Well, I’d first check whether your server accepts incoming connections: on the same Galaxy S7 open any browser which you use (it being Chrome or any other) and type IP:port of your server which runs Tautulli (for example 192.168.1.9:8181, whichever is your local IP and port you set Tautulli to listen on); you should see all data same as on your PC.
Next, check in Tautulli settings whether the IP that was automatically set is your internal or external IP; if you have no need to check it while outside your LAN then insert your local IP.

Next, try inputting your API key manually, it ain’t much work.

Hope this helps, lemme know if you had any success.

Cheers.

I enter my (local) IP and port in Chrome on the S7 - nothing. Site can’t be reached.

(eventually, it would be nice to see the stats externally; right now, I’d settle for it working only locally, from my phone).

Ah. Yes, it was the Windows firewall (I had assumed that the install opened a port for it). When I manually opened port 8181 TCP, then the remote app started to work.

Great!

I doubt I will go through the aggravation to get it to work from outside my LAN, but this way, I don’t have to connect to my PMS while at home, just to check on the activity.

Thanks!

Ok, I’ve compared both Plex’s new stats dashboard versus Tautulli - and, in my humble opinion, Tautulli still reigns supreme.

Can, and when will if so, bandwidth usage be added to Tautulli?
I’m currently relying on a very limited hack I threw together.

I’d much rather prefer pretty pictures embedded into Tautulli, with notifications and or newsletters of daily/weekly/monthly stats including bandwidth.

And, I ask again…

Hi. I am trying to install the Tautilli Android App,

Unfortunately the link seems to be dead. Has it been removed from the App Store?

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.williamcomartin.plexpyremoteCapture

Apparently it’s been taken down for a violation.

Long time PlexPy user, just updated to Tautulli. Thanks for the awesome tool!

I would like to add a notification if a DVR recording fails for some reason - is that possible?

There seems to be no event trigger for recordings in notification settings, nor any way to indicate when an item fails.

@WilhelmStroker I just searched the Play Store and it looks like it is back. The violation issue seems to have been worked out.

I still don’t see it in the UK store though but hopefully that will be resolved soon.

Yeah, sorry - I forgot to mention that I only know that it is back in the Australian store.

Over the years, I have given family, friends, extended family access to my PMS. Within Tautulli, is there a report or sort order or something on an existing screen, that would show the last time each of the accounts with access to my system have accessed it? I would like to maybe get rid of accounts not being used.

In Tautulli, there is a section at the top that says ‘users’. If you click on that it should show you your users, and there is a ‘last seen’ column. I have some users that show ‘never’ and others that show ‘21 hours ago’.

That should help you find what you want

@rbeatse , additional word of note - Last Seen doesn’t show if they simply browsed your server. It only shows an updated time if they have watched/listened to content longer than your setting for “Ignore Interval” in Tautulli settings - General
I’ve requested further monitoring, but it seems its not going to be added.

anyone else having issues with tautulli when trying to add plex media server logs to it?
just spamming errors about plex media server.log isnt available.

Reading of the Plex logs is working just fine here.

The path you set must be the path of the directory that directly contains the log files (Plex Media Server.log). The process Tautulli is running as must also be able to read the files.

Note also that Plex added a log viewer in their client that is likely to be a better method of accessing the logs in Tautulli, since that was only ever meant to be a bit of convenience.

Lol yeah of course it needs to be the path to the logs. What else…

Ok then I’ll just skip tautulli.

Tautulli Notification Conditions not Working version V2.1.26 Unraid 6.6.6 Docker

No matter what I try notification conditions do not seem to work.

I have tried working with
"Media Type is movie", "Media Type contains movie", "Media Type is not movie", "Media Type does not contain movie".

Still the notifications go through for an episode. I added {media_type} to Message Body which clearly prints “episode”.

Also tried the conditions for Video Resolution and Video Bit Rate to separate 1080p vs 4k and 8-bit vs 10-bit files respectively.

All the conditions were tried one by one so no chance of and/or mix-up. Testing with Content Added notification for Telegram.

I am really frustrated at this point, if someone can help please let me know. I will Appreciate very much. Thanks in advance. Can not find any help on the internet too.
