@shark2k - define “HD audio”? FLAC?
I’ve not noticed any disappearance of any audio information, however, I noticed a direct play audio oddity last night.
Friend Roku stick playing movie. Nothing transcoding according to Tautulli. (Container, video, audio, all direct play)
The oddity = The audio said it was AC3 stereo.
None of the content in the library has AC3 stereo, it’s first audio stream is AAC stereo, it’s second audio stream is AC3 5.1.
I linked you to the FAQ and Wiki. Tons of instruction link there on the right and it’s home page links.
@JamminR by HD audio I’m referring to DTS-HD MA or Dolby TrueHD audio. Your situation reminded me. I believe everything where I have seen this has been direct play for everything. I’m hoping somebody will play something this weekend so I can get a screenshot, though with it being a holiday weekend in the US and the “end of summer” that might not happen. Once I see it again though I’ll grab a screenshot or maybe I’ll watch something with HD audio and see if happens.
Ah ok. Sorry, duh. Didn’t even remember that designation. I transcode 98% my content to AC3, occasionally DTS, for space saving and remote streaming. For as many as I share with, most not even having decent stereo equipment vs full-on surround, it’s just not worth the resources.
I’ll keep an eye on mine too. When I saw it I didn’t investigate logs of Tautulli or Plex server. I figure Plex could be just as much at fault for lack of incorrect info. (and, usually more likely )
So the “Recently Added” Newsletter is great. I really like the layout, the tiles, the title info and everything.
But what if I want to add another type of Newsletter, or add more onto the bottom of my existing one, to feature and list differently organised content?
(To be clear, I’m not interested in sorting the same “Recently Added” list in some other way)
Specifically, I’d like to send out my existing Newsletter - or maybe even a separate one, with some “Most Popular”, “Most Watched” and anonymous “Recently Watched” statistics (which Tautulli can already anonymise for me, via Guest Accesses).
I can’t seem to find anything online about anyone who has accomplished this yet, though I have found users requesting these features to be added, and an endless amount of posts simply pointing to that same “I want to customise the newsletter” FAQ page.
Yes, I understand that the page is in a mix of Mako and HTML, and that I can customise it (which I have, to a very small degree), but I can’t figure out how I’m supposed to call in the new data that I want.
Can someone please help me accomplish this?
I’ve tried to work my way through the “home_stats.html” & mimic / butcher what I can into my newsletter…
I can find my way around some simple HTML, but I can’t figure out why its failing in so many places, & unfortunately I don’t understand the wider use of Python or of the Tautulli API…
I suspect that it has something to do with the home_stats page info being a variable, & the newsletter html needing to simply be static?
To be completely frank with you, if you don’t know Python and how to use web APIs, then it’s going to be very, very challenging. This is not something you can accomplish by just copying and pasting various pieces of code (the home stats page does not work the same way as the newsletters). Unfortunately, I don’t have time to teach you or someone else Python from scratch. Sorry.
No problem. I have a 7.1 surround system as does my brother who I share with and we are both capable (full chain wise as he has a Plex server too) so I like to have the best audio available. I do include a stereo track for those I share with that can’t do 5.1 or lossless but that kind of goes to the wayside because it seems like Plex or (or maybe the system that is being used, haven’t been able to determine) like to choose the “best audio” instead of defaulting to the stereo track which is default. Though in some circumstances that’s the opposite
Anyway, back to my issue. I was able to capture 2 screenshots, one showing the information then the next showing it’s not there. Admittedly there is no timestamp so I can not see it necessarily proving that much, but you can see the missing Audio info. Plex is showing audio info on the dashboard, but it doesn’t give title like Tautulli, only that it is AC3 5.1 and it is direct playing.
@shark2k - What Tautulli version, and PMS version?
For Plex, I purposely stay behind a few. For Tautulli, I usually keep updated.
PMS = Win10 Pro x64 1803 w/ PMS v1.16.3.1433 w/ Tautulli v 2.1.33 (beta)
Host: Centos 7
PMS: Version 1.16.6.1592 (using the Linuxserver.io docker)
Tautulli: V2.1.33 (using official Tautulli docker on the master branch)
They auto-update on restart and I just restarted the host yesterday for a separate matter so they updated to the latest available versions (Plex Pass for Plex and master branch for Tautulli). I am still experiencing the issue plus I also noticed it happens on EAC3 (at least 5.1 as that’s all I’ve seen so far) audio.
Anyway we can get Tautulli to identify the Plex for Windows app instead of the PC’s name? At lease this is the case streaming locally. Doing remote tests now.
