Tech Help for HD issue

Since the latest password reset request around the security issue I cannot stream in HD any more.

I have to uncheck the “Checking Connection Speed” button for plex to work at all but the quality is horrible

Is this because plex is no longer free for HD streaming

The changes to streaming only affect where you stream from. If you are local, you should be able to stream at any quality, even 4K. Recreate the problem and provide your client and server logs.

Just noticed my connection to plex server is indirect which is causing the problem I presume. Reinstalling again after the latest update dropped to see if it cures the problem

After updating and rebooting, checked the server status and it just says indirect. Not sure how to change it

Windows 10, 11 should be similar: Windows settings → network & Internet → Properties

Make sure the network interface is private, not public.

If you change the setting, reboot the PC.

This is doing my head in. Network says nearby, but now it says server unavailable on my TV even though on PC it is fine and can watch my media without a problem. Tried remote access on and then off but same error. Just tried reinstalling app on TV but keeps saying cannot connect to server. Now it is worse than ever

Do these help at all

Plex Media Server Logs_2025-09-23_01-00-59.zip (3.1 MB)

Did you check the network interface?

Is it set to Private?

Yes. Set to private

Peruse this Client says it won't play from "remote server", although the server is local for a few more things to check.

Up to the recent update after the security breach plex will not connect to any of my TVs at home. The latest update did not make any difference. Tried and tried to get it to connect so have now given up atfter many years of being a plex user. Have found the quality of usb stick in back of tv works really well and resolution is now back to full hd quality again. Thanks for all the help and advice but it is really doing my head in and life is short
