Terra Master TPK Manual Application Install

Hello,

I was wondering if you could develop the application in their new TPK format. It means you can push out updates quicker for us rather than waiting for them to update the software. They have had this Install Application Manually option for a while and I saw Emby has created something for it so I was hoping you could? Meaning as a Plex Pass User I could get the latest features faster.

Thanks,
Simon.

BUMP!

Now with this new Plex Amp Sonic feature. I would really like the TPK release. As now I am not able to utilize it since it is not been updated on TNAS. Quite unfair if you ask me as a paying Plex Pass member…

Hey guys! Sorry for the delay. Here are alpha packages that support manually installation. If no issues are found with this 1.24.2 release it should go to beta next week.

Hey, thank you for this! I will let you know if I come up with anything.

Hello, just a quick update for anyone viewing this.

The upgrade process is seamless. Just upload the TPK. It may seem like it is stuck on 50% but it is not. It will start again after a bit so just wait it out. The Sonic features are there now so will start analysing that. I will let you know if any bugs are found but this is perfect work Plex Team.

Thank you!

Any further news to report on the installation and running of the TPK PMS ??

Hello,

Is there anything you are looking for particularly as everything is working great for me! I love that I finally have access to the latest Plex Pass features. The alpha version has been working without any issues. Sonic is still analysing my huge library but it’s been working great. Would defo use the TPK.

The install process is simple. Leave the old Plex install on. And just upload the new TPK. It will upgrade the existing application so you don’t have to rebuild the library.

Thanks,
Simon.

Thanks @JackW25 . . .

Glad to hear that everything so far is working good for you. Can you tell me what version of TOS you had installed before trying the TPK Plex install?? Right now I’m on TOS 4.2.14 and PMS version 1.23.2.4656.

I’m always a bit reluctant to update either TOS or PMS as I have had issues with both updates in the past.

Thank you again for your help . . .

Bob

Unfortunately,

I am not sure anymore! My NAS bricked today when I tried making a network change so I cannot confirm either. I am trying to see if there is a way I can export any of my data. I have had issues with Terra Master in the past but this is the final straw. I now probably have to rebuild my whole Plex library and Sonic analysis. And the best they are offering me is a 15% discount on a worse NAS that I have now! They even admitted my device is faulty. I recommend backing up your data ASAP!

Simon,

Sorry to hear about your situation. I have also had issues with my NAS when updated TOS and/or PMS. I do have a complete back-up all of my Plex movies, TV shows, music, and other videos. Unfortunately, if my NAS bricks someday I would have to let PMS rebuild the libraries, thumbnails, and metadata.

Good luck . .

Hello,

I am deciding to move to TrueNAS Core. Hopefully Sonic comes to that architecture soon. Good luck with upgrading.

Also as far as I am aware. I was on the latest public releases of both PMS and TNAS OS.

Thanks,
Simon.

Hello again,

Quick update. After they said my NAS was irreparably bricked. I fixed it! Still using their OS. Just as to mess around with the network setting on my USG and fixed. I can confirm I am using TOS version 4.2.09-2101251735 and it would have been the latest public build of Plex on their App Store.

@chrisallen This is a question for you, I have Plex started but I am not able to access the app? I press “Enter” but it takes me to a null page. And now I cannot start the Application after pressing stop? Supposedly there is an update according to their App Store. Should I trust it?

Thanks,
Simon.

After re-uploading the TPK, it installing. I rebooted and it started again with no issues.

The plex stopped working after my Terra-Master F5-221 updated to 4.2.15. When I clicked “Update”, everything went haywire. I uninstalled it, removed the folder “Plex”, and restarted, but now it keeps saying “Operation Failed”. When I tried to download TPK, it said “Operation Failed” at 50%. Now that I can’t watch a movie tonight with my family, we can’t watch something on my Plex. Is there a way to fix this?

Take a look at this discussion thread. Changing the userid to 555 worked for me.

I already did, still not work. And now “Plex” folder no longer there :frowning:

Hello,

Unfortunately, this is a common fault with these NAS’. This happened to me before when using Terra Masters App Store about a year ago. I had to wait for a NAS Update then it would work again. Now, you may have a pending update. If so great. Otherwise, it could be days, weeks, or months I suppose. I wish you luck finding a way to fix it in the meantime.

Kind regards,
Simon.

did this goto beta ?
im a bit reluctant to put alpha on, the nas is flakey enough as it is

any ideas if this is beta or released ?

Hi,

I assume it’s in Beta now since there have been a few releases. It’s definitely worth going onto it anyways. It’s so much better.

Kind regards,
Simon.
