Plex just seems to keep implementing features that harm user experience rather than improve. If they keep sticking to their guns with these new, useless features rather than fixing existing issues, I’m unsure how they’re going to explain to their investors how they lost a good chunk of their active user-base.

This is terrible UX. Forget how muchI dislike it, I have been recommending Plex for years and now this is being inflicted on family and friends. I don’t care how much your PMs want their bonuses, disable this garbage by default.

First of all that flash of light is going to trigger a seizure in someone.
And the voice. Of all the things to work on. Just horrible in so many ways.

When Plex crashes in the middle of a movie on the Fire TV stick now it’s even more obvious because it restarts and announces that it has crashed! Excellent addition to the app! Maybe just fix the crashing instead of this obvious management/PR “feature” silliness? OMFG!

This is such a catastrophic misfire that I am morbidly curious as to whether the team actually thought this was a good idea, or if they thought it was a bad idea but someone pulled rank and made it happen anyway.

This is incredibly cringe and I cannot believe someone thought it was a good idea. Give us an option to disable it or remove the sound completely.
This offers zero value. Please offer ability to disable.

Because this is capitalism in action. They must generate year over year growth.
The sound bite inside the apk can be found at res/uo.m4a, so if anybody is annoyed enough by it that you just want to fix it yourself for now, I think you can delete that file + rezip + install the apk directly… haven’t tested yet though

Also chiming in, please do not force loud shouting noises at us. At least let us disable it. Otherwise it’s just disrespecting your users adding obnoxious UX elements like this
Wow. I don’t often complain about these kinds of things, but I just launched Plex and it literally scared me.
The combination of the high pitch of the sound effects and the yelling is excruciating to my ears.
This is horrible. What in the world were you thinking Plex team?
Manager: “Alright team, lets come up with an issue to focus on”
Dev: “Well, Android downloads have been broken since 2013”
Manager: “MAKE IT YELL AT PEOPLE”
