They won’t disable it. They want to be like all the other apps with an ANNOYING AS F launch splash video. I bet anything someone in marketing has forced this with some BS about “well studies show that apps with splash pages have more use blah blah blah”.

Wife approval factor for plex just took a nosedive. The startup sound is substantially louder than much of the media in our library, so when we leave the volume where we normally have it, it shouts PLEX at us on launch now. If it must have a startup sound, something tame and QUIET please, or else give users a toggle or volume config just for the startup sound please.
At minimum there should be an option to kill it with fire.
If they want to get fancy, let us use our own custom startup sounds with the option to use ‘none’.
I just bought the lifetime Plex Pass and I’m regretting it already. Please change this, it makes me not want to use the app.
it might be fun to just have it play after each update but not every single time. Yes, I was spooked for a second.

It does seem that Plex is heavily prioritizing flash over function lately. I recently vented my frustration when a feature request for a relatively trivial feature was implemented within a few weeks of being requested, while requests for actual missing functionality had languished for years.
This new startup chime is even more trivial than that, since it provides no new functionality, it irritates people, and yet they were quick to throw it in.
Plex and I have very different views on the meaning of “awesome.” This ain’t it.
Please also fire the product owner who requested this. It shows a lack of common sense and respect to your customers.

They might when this Plex Pass badge disappears. I’m monthly. I want to keep supporting but it’s not going to change my world much to stream locally without it.
This could only happen on Android, well I really hope so… 
I actually kinda like the new animation instead of just blank text but dear god that startup sound is WAY TO LOUD!! Do please remove it and have it be an option to enable it or at the very least replace it with a very quiet sound not a whispering plex. NOBODY and I repeat NOBODY like this.
This has got to be one of the worst changes to apps nowadays, even youtube does it now with some wierd bass drop thing… its disgusting and makes the app feel childish…
