The entire program is borked

I dont know what happened, but I got home today, sat down at the couch and fired up Plex on my Xbox as I do almost every day. Unable to find server

Go to my desktop: No plex icon in my app tray where it always is. I find the Plex icon on my desktop and click to run it. Nothing happens. Still no icon in my app tray. I open up task manager. It says Plex is running. It clearly is not.

Go to the website and see a new update came out today. Downloaded the new update and allowed it to go through it process and the progress bar goes all the way to the end and then…nothing…it sits for 43 minutes and finally “finished.” I click “run” and then once again, my task manager says Plex is running but its not using any CPU power and the app is clearly not running.

I tried uninstalling all Plex data from my computer and reinstalling from the most recent update and absolutely nothing happens. I also have Plex Pass so it would be nice for this thing to work.

Anyone got any helpful tips?

Find another service, what ever Plex was is long gone.

Not sure what your using but I’m using a dumb TV and nearly all is good. HD-MA 10bit 7.1 Channel my only issue, but have a work around. Life is good.

Same thing happened to me yesterday. Upgraded my PLEX server and it died. I thought about reinstalling PLEX but I figured that was too much of a pain. I run Acronis on that PC daily so I just restored to the previous days image and the whole thing was back to where it was in 30 minutes.

Nope. As the entire program is borked is nonsense, I can’t see any use trying.
Maybe someone else likes a troll?

Don’t like trolls, but maybe he has a borked sense of humour.

You’re right. In that case I’m reminded of Chet from Weird Science, may he rest in peace.

In my case the server application would start and use up pretty much ALL of the CPU resources on my PC and that would be it. For about an hour it would just whirl and do nothing. You couldn’t sign into it. Server not found. When the server is running but it isn’t DOING anything, there really isn’t much you can do but wipe and restore. You can’t do anything from within the application because the application isn’t letting you in. I just did a complete C Drive restore and that fixed it. I also said skip it when it asked if I wanted to do the upgrade again.

If you recently upgrade to PMS 1.18 from 1.17, and you have music, then the new server would do extensive scanning to deploy the new Plex Music upgrade/unification.

I wouldn’t mind it doing that if the rest of the server worked while it did it. But nothing was functioning,.
