The Guide is empty

I can’t get the guide to upload any data so that I watch and record live tv. When I go to it, it states “The Guide is Empty” and tells me to “Please verify your channel mappings and refresh the Guide”. I have tried that many times. All it does is shows it downloading for a second having 0% done then stop. I have removed the tuners and reinstalled them, and gone threw the setup many times. I am running it on a Windows 10 PC with the WinTV-quadHD tuner. And I can watch TV with them on my PC, but the PLEX won’t download any guide info to be able to watch or record using PLEX. I bought only equipment that is stated on the PLEX site that is compatible with PLEX and the PLEX Pass, I would hate to think that I wasted the time and money to set this up to not get any support. Can someone let me know what needs to me done or let me know of a different provider that I can use before I get charged again for the membership that I only got for this.

I just added a new HD Homerun Connect Quatro tuner to my system today. I am experiencing the same issue. The guide will not load. I had a guide with my old HD Homerun just before I deleted it to add the quatro tuner. HELP!!!

Plex is aware of the issue and is working with the EPG provider.

You can look at the https://status.plex.tv/incidents/c311q3bz7vhs web page

Thank you for the link about the status but it is not resolved. I just tried to refresh and I got 0%.

Is there any update or ETA for a fix of the EPG problem?

The problem may have got resolved.

Could you try to refresh the guide now and report back please - with logs if there is still a problem

I tried refresh on my Shield TV and only got to about 7% before it failed.Plex Media Server Logs_2019-03-01_09-54-03.zip (2.6 MB)

Thanks for trying - yes i can see failures. So they still have issues

Have the Plex engineers figured out if it’s a PMS problem or strictly the provider’s fault? If it’s the former, is there a way to rollback to a working version until this is sorted out?

Its a provider problem and has been reported to them.

I pay for Plex, I use Plex (when it works), I watch live TV thought the Plex DVR. This is a Plex problem, I don’t care who you contracted to. When I get sour milk from the grocery store it’s the grocery stores fault, not the farmer who milked the cow.

Maybe this is a FAQ or RTFM but is there a way to get an alternative guide so that I can watch live TV and schedule recordings this weekend?

There is an option during setup to have your own supplied guide - eg using XMLTV
https://support.plex.tv/articles/225877347-live-tv-dvr/

Can you link to a page that actually says something about using your own supplied guide? That page has nothing except a note for enabling enhanced when you use your own provider.

Or I’m rage blinded from the very poor experience this is providing. (Yes I have a family that reminds me every 5 minutes that Comcast can do it.)

Here is the link I used for one of my systems:

You have to delete the DVR and recreate it to use an xmltv file. Also have to setup all recordings again. Can’t find anyway to make it work on Shield TV.

Thank you, I appreciate the assistance.

It seems like a lot of work but since the existing DVR and live tv can be rendered unoperable by Gracenote and no contingency was thought of I guess it’s a one time cost.

I’ve been using it on my ubuntu systems for a few weeks now and it seems to work well. I run the zap2xml process at 1am and let the normal update process run at 2am as a scheduled task in Plex. The config file has a setting that gets current data for two days and caches everything else. I changed it so that I get 7 or 10 days uncached and updated daily so I can look out at least a week for programming.

Wish I could find something like this to use on my new Shield TV.

I haven’t looked to much into this for Android devices like shield tv, but my guess would be to start by searching on how to run Perl scripts on Android devices.

A quick google search found this https://medium.com/@appmattus/embedding-perl-on-android-b271a1f4b013

If you can get that part to work, then you’d need to find a way to run the script as a scheduled task/job
