Hello, for some time now I have been unable to use live TV as the guide is empty. I have tried removing and re-adding my DVR, I have tried refreshing the guide data and I have tried across sever builds of code up until the most recent ( 1.14.0.5470). The server is installed on Windows 10 with a WinTV 955Q USB tuner. Steps taken:
Enabled Verbose and debug Logging
Stopped server
Performed a ‘repair’ under programs and features of Windows
Refreshed Guide from within the Plex GUI
Removed and re-added the tuner
disabled verbose and debug logging
As a side note, I do use a custom EPG guide (created using EPG123) as I get stations from both US and Canada - this file has not chnaged in the time since it stopped working.
I have attached the logs here (acquired from troubleshooting–download logs) so if something is missing
please let me know and I can add it.
Hello Garyan2 - thanks for taking the time to reply!
Unless I am understanding it incorrectly, the XML file is simply generated once to ensure proper channel mapping - so I am not sure that the info can really be out of date. If it were I would expect that the channel name/epg data would be wrong.
The XMLTV file contains not only the channel information, but also the guide listings. If you use EPG123 and do a manual update by clicking the [Save & Execute] button, the XMLTV file will be updated. Then, when you refresh the guide in Plex, you will see all your listings again.
You will need to create a scheduled task to run epg123 daily to keep your guide up-to-date. You can reference page 12 of the Installation and User’s Guide of EPG123 to create a Server Mode Scheduled Task.
Let me know if you need any help with that.
As a side note, I would recommend you disable the Enhanced Guide option to avoid Plex incorrectly matching series information.
Thanks for the tip - I was under the impression I could build out the channel list with epg123 and have Plex get the guide. My issue is I get channels from both US and Canada and have been unable to map them within plex.
I may not be understanding the question, but when using any XMLTV file, Plex will load the listings contained in the XMLTV file on some schedule (daily?). EPG123 gives you the ability to combine multiple lineups into a single XMLTV file and can be scheduled to create a new file every 24 hours.
So if you have EPG123 configured with the lineups and channels that you want, you just need to ensure that it is scheduled to create a new XMLTV file every 24 hours. That way when Plex performs its scheduled guide update, the guide listings will be current.
