The installation on Synology NAS can't complete. Do we have old versions archive for Synology?

Server Version#:1.24.3.5033, running on DSM 7

I tried to update to the newest version from the Plex.tv (Media Server Downloads | Plex Media Server for Windows, Mac, Linux, FreeBSD and More), the installation just keeps “processing” to the infinity.

  1. I tried common update - did not work
  2. I uninstalled old 1.23 version, rebooted the NAS Synology, tried to install 1.24 - still no joy

I was looking for the old Synology Plex Server 1.23 version to redownload, but looks like it has been moved to the oblivion.

I understand that I should not move back neither to official Synology Plex nor beta.

Is there any hope for me?

Thanks for quick reply.

Unfortunately, I can’t send you the logs by any of the methods:

  1. I don’t have Plex installed at the moment, since I tried to install it completely new out of act of desperation.

  2. There is no “PlexMediaServer” folder in the File Station. I understood we needed no Plex folders any longer after update to DSM7?

Dalibor

I might have had it wrong - I now remember that I’ve had similar problems before, but once I refreshed the “processing” message was gone.
This is how it looks like:

DSM920+ DSM 7.0-41890 INTEL Celeron J4125

Alright - let’s keep it running for next two hours. I’ve got rather large database, indeed. I think it was a couple of GB back on DSM 6. I’m gonna post back after 2 hours.

BTW, I liked the idea of no special Plex folders.

BTW2, I found all former versions in my trashcan. Lesson learned: I’m gonna keep them.

Alright. Done. Thanks!

I wish we had a message saying: “Wait for a couple of hours…”, or some kind of progress bar. Normally, any Synology package is pretty much installed in matter of seconds on such configuration, so it looks like the process is stuck.

The circle is still rotating and I can’t hear the disks, but let’s hope it will finish anyway.

Will it help if I create the folder in question manually and assign appropriate rights?

I’m just wondering - where it is now copying from, since I don’t have any Plex folder? Not the one that I can see, anyway.

Well, this is not going to happen. Three hours after I’m getting this:

I kept the browser open and checking every 15-30 mins to make sure the session is running, too.

OK, got it now :). I figured it might have something to do with the access to the Synology NAS. This time I tried to use my Local IP (192.168.x.x) instead of a public Synology address.

It immediately showed normal dialog window:

And then, instead of “Processing” message, it displayed “Installing”

Two minutes later, everything was completed, and the PlexMediaServer folder has appeared:

Everything seems to be in order now:
