Before I begin to describe my problem I want to tell you that I am super happy with PLEX and all it’s services. I am also not sure if this is the correct forum area for this problem that I have, but after the problem is described I will suggest a feature.
So, I would love to have all my IPTV channels in my PLEX server. I’ve tried multiple third party plugins, they are slow, majority of the channels do not work or lacking sound (tried with different troubleshooting options like direct stream on/off, different IPTV suppliers and so on).
This made me install a virtual TV-Tuner (plexIPTV) and hook it up to my IPTV subscription and it worked great! All the channels works, switching channels was fast and so on. I though that I was finally done setting up my configure and that I could finally watch any channel on my TV. So I went to the TV and was about to cast from my android to TV. However, there is no option to cast live tv from android to chrome cast?!. In the promotion of DVR in PLEX it says you will be able to watch all your channels on any device? Is that any device but chrome cast? Sure I can cast the entire tab in google chrome or my entire phone screen in android but that makes me loose the flexibility I wanted. So I ruled out this option.
I didn’t want to give up so I tried a third option, this time I installed RasPlex on my raspberry and set up the IPTV plugin. This time, all the channels did work, and it was smooth as silk and everything worked great. However, now I have 2 units, my “normal” PLEX server and a RasPlex, so I am still not satisfied.
So now to the feature I want to request, please make it possible to cast live TV from any device to chrome cast. This would be the best solution for this problem that I can think of.
Or build in a IPTV functionality that is fully supported and works.
