Some movies disapear on my library but the file is still there on the file system same folder of all movies.
When I click on the movie with no poster it say “The media you’re looking for isn’t here” but it is there and permission and everything is fine.
The only way to get around with this is to move the file somewhere else refesh library and move it back and refresh library again.
Does this happen with Empty trash automatically after scanning a library and automatic library updates enabled?
In that case, Plex would actually completely delete the movie if it can no longer see it (for whatever reason) – or if Empty trash... is disabled it should still show the poster and the trash-can overlay.
Have you recently checked your database for any signs of corruption?
I don’t remember if PMS 1.6.x used to have any issues in this area… it’s been some time (almost 3 years if the release announcements are to be trusted).
Thx for your reply.
I ran an optimization of the Database, Clean Bundles, but it doesn’t help it.
I can’t find any setting on Empty Trash … so I don’t know.
I don’t have automatic scanning.
How can I check database issues ?
I did the database Repair procedure but it didn’t help to fix this issue.
On those movies with the poster gone I can right click “get info” and plex is ok with all detail and not complaining about file not being there, but if I enter in the movie then I got the message “The media you’re looking for isn’t here”.
I’m confuse, I think I gonna be using the move/file and put it back method to get along with it … going through all my library to check for missing poster is annoying tho.
I have the exact same symptoms and have tried the same resolutions. This is on a handful (30-40) in a library of a couple thousand movies. Files that are referenced exist, I can also get info from the library page and verify the filenames and paths. There are no special characters in file names, and there are no permissions differences vs. other movies in the same folders.
Also the movie is shown without cover art or anything, it’s just a blank box. It’s almost like the record itself is corrupt. I don’t want to “delete” as it will also delete the media file, I just want to delete this record and maybe have Plex rediscover the item again.
Last piece of info, if I look at the Play History of the item, it shows 35,320 records. Which I think is EVERY play history on my Plex server, so clearly some sort of database corruption of this item.
I pulled down the sqlite database and took a look through DB Browser. I don’t see anything obvious in the record files for a “corrupted” item vs. any other database item. I see a few posts on the forums all within the last few weeks discussing the same issue. If anyone has resolved this, or if anyone from Plex would like copies of files to investigate, I’m happy to provide them.
Hi. I did follow the article. Command returned an “ok”. I also dumped the database file out to a .sql file, deleted the dB file, recreated it from the dump file, etc. No change.
I have the same problem, it’s totally random. I have to check my movies regularly, change the filename by adding a letter for instance, and then do a scan. The movie pops back, and I rename the file back to the original. I have to do this every time.
It’s quite annoying that I can’t trust the plex library. As the rest of the guys reports, everything seem to be in order, the movie is where Plex think it is, but you can’t play it before Plex “discovers” it again.
Not quite sure if this is an attempt to revive an old thread, to vent or if you’re asking for support.
If your Plex behaves this erratic and you suspect it could be related to the database being corrupted… have you followed the troubleshooting from earlier in this thread?
I don’t want add fuel to the fire, but as discussed earlier in this thread database rebuild and other stuff above hasn’t work for me.
To be fair, the issue is very seldom so I can live with it.
No venting here either. Problem is still occurring, as I mentioned above, I’ve performed all database corruption methods as outlined. It’s happening pretty often for me. If I can help troubleshoot this, I’m happy to do what I can.
Yes, I’ve tried everything. Random movies are still being randomly dropped from my collection. I get the “The media you’re looking for isn’t here” error, I have to rename the file(by adding a letter to the file name) and re-scan the library.
At this very moment I discovered “Thor: The Dark World” isn’t available. It’s always different movies, totally random, they are partially forgotten. It’s like Plex has alzheimer’s.
