The new app is terrible

ever since the new app (literally any version of it) I’ve had nothing but issues non stop.. like the fact that the Plex app now uses 50-70% of my phone battery in a matter of a few hours.. that is on my OnePlus 13 with a 6000 mah battery while in power save mode… this also happens on my s25 ultra, my Xiaomi 12t pro, my moto razr 2024, and my iPhone 11.. so it is 100% the app.. okay now that is said, the new app also is garbage in so so so so many ways… there is so much functionality that is now gone that the old app had.. literally the entire design is bad.. just look at the literal 100s if not 1000s of reviews and posts related to the new app.. there are like no good ones about it.. if there are it’s less than 5% of them.. just go back to the old app. you will likely start losing more customers if you don’t. You want to know why Plex is struggling…? this, this is why you don’t listen to your customers who pay.. it’s been over a month now and literally none of the issues I’ve had from day 1 have been fixed. your last public notice update was 2 months ago.. at least acknowledge you made a huge mistake. Honestly the person who green lit the go live of the new app should be demoted or fired. I was heavily considering lifetime pass.. now I’m considering cancelling and requesting a refund. this will likely be the path I take since Plex clearly doesn’t care about their community. Saying they do means nothing, action does.. if the backlash of the new app says anything, it says Plex will make a terrible decision, then double down when literally no one likes it.

i also must say, that the new app-version is a catastrophy. i have the app on an iphone and an android tablet. the new version. on both devices it often just hangs, crashes, restarts the video, is complaining about the network and the german translation isn’t even complete. dear plex developers… why don’t you finish it before publishing…? i’m very disappointed and mad since you also raised the annual fee. (my version on the iphone is 2025.15.0 (1053) with ios version 18.5.

Keeping this topic alive. This is my first visit to the forum driven by extreme frustration with the android app. The old app was fine, as far as I was concerned. And now every time I open the new app, my blood just boils. It’s lost the ability to show me options to “continue watching”.

Favoriting libraries to see them on the home screen worked exactly ONE TIME. When I exited and returned to the app, they were no longer visible on the home screen. But they’re still favorited! Un-favoriting and re-favoriting does not help…the app has compeltely lost the ability to show me “Continue watching” for my own libraries, but sure, it can show me that option for some public Plex show I watched for 30 seconds 18 months ago. Yeah, THAT ONE still shows up on my home screen, and I can’t find a way to get rid of it.

Such basic functionality completely broken. Truly unbelievable. FWIW, I’m a software engineering manager. If this ■■■■ happened at my company, people would be fired.
