The new player suck

Why do you (PLEX developers) consistently screw up stuff that works, did you every hear “if ain’t broke don’t fix it”? This new player granted seems to be a little more efficient but what did you change stuff we want and is in every frickin player in the world.

Where is the progress bar??? How are you supposed to effectively FF or FRW with no progress bar??? Also the skip F and skip R does not work, instead of 10 sec or 30 sec it often goes many mins. not sec.

And what happened to the OTA guide, I am only getting a few hours, 12 hours if that?

PLEASE LEAVE THE INTERFACE ALONE …it is obvious that the developers have no idea what we want.

I am using the PLEX app on my FireTV Cube.

Plex on FireTV - an adventure into madness (6 years and counting).

Plex is hoping whatever they have going on Android TV ports over to FireTV - it never does, but they keep hoping.

One day I’d like to use my FireTV for Plex… but while I wait - I have a Roku… and PMP.

I would go to RoKu but for some reason there is no 30 sec skip with PLEX on RoKu and since I record OTA I MUST have 30 sec. skip to avoid commercials.

What is PMP?

Enable thumbnail generation on your DVR recordings, then use the right-arrow button on the Roku remote. Going through commercials takes literally a few seconds.

Too bad the thumbnails don’t work on Firestick like they do on Roku.

Literally everything is better on the Roku than the Firestick except that you can install a VPN directly on the Firestick but not the Roku.

P.S. This forum blows too…can’t figure out how to quote @Cafe_Diem

‘highlight’ a block of text…

Thumbs on FireTV is a joke.

On Roku, If transcoding, Plex/Roku can be counted on to skip in 10 second increments - one thumb=10 seconds. If Direct Play, it’s a crap shoot. Each thumb could be anywhere between 4 seconds and 14. When Roku INC. removed the 30/10 skip - they screwed everybody.

do these dev’s even test their stuff ?!?!?!

  • THERE IS NO WAY TO PROPER ESCAPE THE NEW PLAYER INTERFACE !!! (at least on androidtv)

  • why the “timer” skipping? instead of thumbnails?

seriously, there was nothing wrong with the old interface. almost everything else is

These idiot dev. know if they don’t change stuff, fix stuff that isn’t broke they are out of work. That is the ONLY reason to keep fixing stuff that isn’t broke. I think it’s time to go to Emby, SCREW PLEX.

i feel you … plex is going somewhere nobody wants it to be
only thing that annoys me is to set up my whole library again on emby. with all “manual” changes to posters etc.
but in the long run, i guess emby is the better choice. i am waiting too long for a positiv change with plex aswell. but these not so smart Plex Dev’s always coming up with a new stupid idea.

besides nonsense features on plex, the bugs are growing aswell.

Boy I feel you I just deleted plex off three servers and went back to emby
Easy peasy to set up and interface clean and simple
What on earth was the Plex developers thinking we couldn’t even use the player anymore with all the screwball add-ons The servers were hard to find or to log into and they would not stay connected and the whole concept of watching your own library was destroyed by the last update I don’t get it I’m very thankful we had emby to fall back on

I haven’t seen their product for a couple years and they’ve done a good job clean and it works and it’s simple and I got my library back

For now goodbye Plex You wrecked what worked and now it’s nothing but a big mess

Interesting thoughts in this thread.
As for me, Emby Server is simply a case of enabling disabling a docker container, I took a look at Emby on the Shield for the first time in several months.
Different client to the ATV I guess, but one word I wouldn’t use to describe it is “clean”. A complete “Hot Mess” perhaps.

People always say something like that thinking it will shock Plex into action on their particular issue. The fact is once they get there - in Emby Heaven - they find everything works mostly, but the UI appears to be designed by 9 year olds (that’s an insult to 9 year olds, actually).

The trouble is - Plex knows there’s nowhere to go - as most people also find that out as well, right before they come back.

The moral of this story is - when you Rage Quit Plex and storm off to Emby it feels good - and when you come back you wish you hadn’t deleted your Plexiverse.

Don’t delete the Plexiverse.

Agree totally, hot under the collar to only be conquered by the Green machine. Orange is the new Black ,goes better on LG OLED.

At least for those of us with pass they won’t get anymore money out of us.

Au Contraire, Mi Amigo… I’m paying monthly…

It’ll give me something to withdraw in a fit of rage - at some point…lol

Lol. Well as I have said before the native LG app is the only clients that I found faster and smoother than Plex.

On the Shield in particular there seems to have been some recent changes in Emby.
As the UI/UX in Plex on the Shield slowly improves, for me at least Emby heads in the opposite direction.
