The Original/Old Server, from the PLEX Friend, is Main Server & Will NOT Delete, When Should ONLY Be The Remote & New Server, from the PLEX Friend, also available, but NOT Main Server

I will do my best to explain it, this is one-reason everything should have the option for speaking to paid employees/experts for at least technical support! I do not think it is our (people at my home) or friend that are the problem, I think it is PLEX’s software problem.

Our home does not use a server to download to put on PLEX app. for our friend- who does use a remote server to download their downloads to PLEX, & all friends’ communications to put on PLEX app., for us and other friends. So I do not know that friend’s server information; I am going to try find the version of PLEX player we have. Use Amazon Fire, and the PLEX Player version is: 7.28.0.15501

I have gone on PLEX’s website and tried to solve this, only to find there is only the friend’s new remote server there sharing with our PLEX Player, but on our TV there still is also our friend’s Original/Old Server and it is chosen as the main server. Of course, original/old server will not work thought it does show everything that was on original/old server and now, is on the friend’s new remote server.

Yet, have to use forms (sorry but outside of basic help users do not help or they be employed as such) to get any technical support! Also, I might add one reason that I hate Apps!

“It can’t possibly be something on my end!” – the mantra of half the people who post on these forums.

My understanding of the situation.

  1. You use Plex as a user only. You don’t operate a server of your own.
  2. You connect to your friend’s server using a separate Plex user account.
  3. Your friend has recently built a new server and moved all his content to it.

Your friend shares the sever with your Plex account, not the app on the Fire-TV device specifically. That’s why the web view shows things differently than the app. You’re free to organize things differently on every client to suit how you use them.

What’s going on is you have your friend’s old server libraries pinned to your sidebar on the Fire-TV app. You need to unpin them, and add the new server libraries under the “More+” section so you can access them easily. You can also choose to reset the settings on the Fire-TV Plex app completely so it has you go through the setup again, as that will remove all pinned libraries and then you can just choose your friend’s new server as your default server.

That is a correct understanding,

I guess, I should have included that the original/old server is no longer exists, assumed too much. Thus, only receive the message “is Currently Unavailable”, “verify that the server is running and has a network connection” and to go to this website’s support. Of course no way to verify
There is no option unpin, just to “retry connection”.

Thanks for your reply, maybe this helps you to help me?

The server may very well still exist, your friend possibly just removed your share access because he set up the new server for you to use instead.

I have two servers and can test this easily. One moment…

But do you also have the main server as detached from the App.?

To test/see what problem we have you are going to have to be able to get one of your this App. Friends, of your main server, to tell you what happened, when you detached your main server from the App.? You able to do all of that so easily?

That’s not what we’re really testing here. We’re testing if you can make changes to pinned libraries when they are unavailable. I don’t see removing permissions or anything as really necessary.

I can still access the three dots menu on the far left…

I can still unpin the library so it’s not present.
And again, you can also still reset the whole thing (Home > three dots > Reset to Defaults) to clear all libraries and have Plex ask you what your “main server” is.

I am assuming your addressing that post over the other means cooperation with a friend that sharing your main server & being available to communicating back & forth is not a problem or time consuming. By changes I assume you mean unpinning libraries* and that would make sense, but in my original post I pointed out that the detached server’s media is also on the new remote server. Hopefully that should not matter. *- Maybe, unpinning the detached original/old server as well? Without anything in it, it would still be main server

I do not have access to the menu or anything else- except retry connection button, from the detached server.
Also in your friend’s PICs the detached server is not the 1st/I assume means main server, in my setup it is.

I know what it could be, should I remove customization of the home screen? That part of the player does not show both servers, only the detached server home & media. I was in the More part of the player

It doesn’t matter that they have the same media. You’re not pinning media – you’re pinning libraries, and libraries are associated with a specific server. If the server is gone or offline all libraries from that server are also unavailable.

The Plex app on your Fire TV is not dependent on a connection to an active Plex server. You should have access to manage the home screen even if the server you normally use is offline.

:expressionless: I’ve mentioned that twice now.

Sorry, about that, have ton of things trying to do a once. I am trying many ways to get it done, but yet to get out of detached server.

Go left – back to the sidebar, and up to the top to “Back” if you’re still on the “More+” section now.
Once you’re back to the main home screen, go to “Home” and the three dots on the left side of the entry.

Now, all it is asking me to do is restart the PLEX Media Server (assuming it should not be my Friend’s new remove server) & this app… Hopefully, that will remove the detached server, as it should.

Do you know how to restart the PLEX Media Server and this App.?

Yeah, I did do that a few times, already

It is not Actions * Manage Home Screen, right?

You shouldn’t need to do anything with the server. When you reset the app, did it ask you what server you wanted to make your “main server”. You would want to choose the new server your friend runs there.

That would be for rearranging the display of things on the Home Screen itself.

No, just said that & will not play movie

That was what I thought, thanks

Did not we already do that?
