I hope this is posted in the correct location. I just replaced my Synology NAS due to the original one failing. When I migrated the drives too the new NAS, Plex wound up reindexing my media (movies and TV series over a 2 day period.
When launching PLEX, the user interface is now cluttered with stuff I really don’t need to see on the Home Screen: recently added in movies (all of them are now new, recently released episodes - don’t need to see these either, recently added in TV shows - again will be all be new even though not to me, start watching, what’s on now, todays Live TV for you, and a bunch more.
I consider this as noise to me and I don’t want to see any of it at this point. Is there some way to turn all this stuff off from appearing now since everything was just reindexed, and just leave me with my own stuff like movies and TV (the browse libraries option) when I enter the the application? zThe recently added stuff could appear later from this point on when I add new stuff.
I also don’t want to see recommended for you stuff either. the UI used to be so simple and clean and now I find that it has become cluttered with stuff I have no interest in seeing.
The items should have the option to be turned off from appearing on the Home Screen or at any point they appear on the UI.
It appear this happened based on how you migrated your drives to the new servers. Instead of migrating the server data, you seem to have only moved the media, letting the new Syno create a new server. That new server will consider all items you just added to be new — hence they’re cluttering your Home Screen Hubs.
The short version…
Install PMS on your new NAS
Stop the old AND new server
Locate the PMS server data directory on both your old and new Syno
The next steps assume that both Synos are running the same version of DSM (e.g. 6 or 7):
Copy the content of the server data directory of the old server into the server data directory of the new one
Move the media — preferably to the same folder structure / paths as on the old setup

PMS refers to Plex media server I surmise. When after migrating the drives I had PMS was not there so I installed it and I assume it picked up the current version.
according to PLEX media server when I open it on new NAS this is what I see.:
installed version is 1.41.8.9834-72009834
newest online version is : 1.41.5.9626-72009626
why is the installed version number greater that the newest online version?
Just so you know the old NAS is no longer accessible as it packed it in. so when you say to stop the old and new media server what does that refer to?
for your comment preceding step 4 above regarding the assumption, I have no idea that both Synos are running the same DSM. I assume that both were running DSM 7.? current is DSM 7.2.2-72806 update 3
just to clarify, when I migrated to new NAS (DS423+) from the old one DS415+ I simply removed the drives from the 415 and placed them into the 423 and let the OS do its thing.
It’s not like I had access to both NAS’s and “copied” the data from old HDDs to New HDDs on the 423.
I can see the PMS as an installed application, can open it, but don’t see how/where to stop it. I do not see it in control panel.
I don’t know where this leaves me at this point..
I don’t have and old and =new server so don’t know how to proceed rom here.
Hopefully you can guide me along further.

Synology takes their time to publish Plex‘s updated app bundles to their App Store.
You can always manually install the latest version from Plex‘s homepage (or wait for Synology to catch up, which can be many months later).
If you can no longer access the server data directory from the old NAS, you’re indeed going to be stuck with a new installation (on the new Syno), that’s not aware of your previous modifications (manual matching corrections, manually edited metadata, playlist/collection assignments…)… and considering all media to be newly added.
