I have the same issue. I go to settings in home.mycloud… and disable Plex. Then reboot. Then I enable Plex again and for a while it works fine (2-3 days). Then suddenly the plex server can’t be found neither on my samsung TV (75 inch), my phone or my Windows PC. From my windows pc I can clearly see the Plex folder on the server.
The problem started around June or early July. Not sure, but before that it worked fine for more than a year.
Thank You Carsten, but I don’t see the possibility to disable Plex on the home.mycloud.com/settings/current_device.
I suppose you have a My Cloud Home Dual wich gives more options in the “settings”.
Now, I hope your problem will find solutions.
One more question, If you work Windows, do you have a public library?
If you want to disable the Plex server from within the My Cloud Home, you need to go on the website at https://home.mycloud.com - click “Do More,” select “Plex” and click disable.
I recently installed the latest version for Plex server for Windows and now I have the same issue. Whats strange is that when I initially install a version update, I can connect to the server from any device in my home network. After a few hours of running, the same connection problem occurs again. Has anyone observed this symptom?
Just picking this up again, the connection did eventually come for me back but seems to only last a day at the most. I’ve tried to reboot the cloud, diable plex, configure plex etc so so many times now. I agree, this issue started during the summer and has not been right since. Does anyone have any ideas on why the connection keeps going?
Hi, i,ve still not managed to fix the ploblem. Having tried rooboots, configures etc, nothing seems to be work and when it does i loose the connection overnight. I did wo der if it was something to do with my sky broadband??
Hello again. I connected my WD cloud home to a different router for few ours, then put him back to my living room router and somehow it was working again after few hours (probably after it scannerem all my items)
You both might need to check your router settings and confirm your MyCloud has a static IP address (sometimes this is called an IP reservation).
This on and off behavior could be based on the device getting a different address either after a period of time or when you move and reconnect it. In such a case Plex could miss it’s connection
I’ve tried all of the solutions you have described, but none of them worked out for me, i dug up some old threads about WD and plex, and i might have found the solution, it’s fresh, but server stopped disconnecting,
old information suggested that WD can handle small library of around 50 titles and with more that 300 it keeps disconnecting.
For me it was disconnecting every 5 minutes or so, making it useless
i started from a scratch:
disable the plex server
move all the media to other folders (and delete previous folders)
reboot the MyCloud Home,
Enable the Plex (i have named the server with name not previously used, not sure if that is important)
Configure the Plex:
a. disable: Scan my library automatically (at settings/library)
b. enable: Run a partial scan when changes are detected
c. Library Scan interval: set to: daily (will update if tomorrow it will crush)
move media to plex folders in small batches - 10-20 titles at the same time, scan folders manually, upon finish placed other media and repeat the scan process
So far the plex haven’t disconnected for at least 12 hours,
on additional notes: i’m using static IP address, gigabit connection with ASUS router
