The video quality of the plex server is limited by your download speed when watching remotely?

Hello,

I understand that in order to play something on my server when I am not doing it locally is dependent on the upload speed of my internet in my local server but when I am trying to play video from a remote location from another users plex (they have over 100mbps upload speed), then the video playing is only limited now on my side by my download speed correct?

So for example if they put up a video that plays at 45 mbps but my download speed is 30mbps then I would not be able to play that video at original quality right? Even if the other user had more than enough capability to upload it since they have 100mbps. I know that this question might be obvious but I still wanted to confirm it,

It is as you stated.

Thank you. I just wanted to make sure. Now I know that even if they have files that play at 40mbps I would not be able to play them at least at original quality due to the 30mbps limitation of my download speed.

The user sharing out his library to you could have defined a bandwidth limit for remote access.
Particularly when several users at once are streaming.

^^ What @OttoKerner stated is also another variable.
