I remember that in a distant past, there was a “Fix Match” in the main menu, not in every poster, but in most of them (never figured out the discriminant).
When you have a lot of additions at a time, it’s incredibly silly to have to enter in every show you know is wrong, to fix it.
But the mai reason of this post is that maybe there is a problem in the search code, that does not show the 2019 version of The Witcher, and maybe, who knows, many other results in other searches.
Some times ago i posted about another problem in the search, but i got told that the problem resides on thetvdb. I didn’t agree, but the post got forgotten, and the problem is still there.
It’s pretty simple. If you have a folder named, for example (i’m doing an non-existant example), a show named “The jack-of-all-trades”, the Plex search discards all “-” and search for “The jack of all trades”. Then finds nothing. You have to do a manual fix and put those “-” back again. There is no reason to discard those before searching, but pleax does that anyway.
Your problem is you need to name your files properly.
Plex will still fumble 10%, but in your case it’s fumbling 80% - and that, to you, seems like a buggy search. Buggy file names are your problem.
The 10% fumble is Plex’s problem, but to get to that problem you first need to have pristine file names - like FileBot gets from the site Plex can’t find a match from 30 seconds later. <—that’s where the bugs live.
“The Witcher” (2019) does not come out from search even when doing it the manual way.
And Plex is the only with this problem. Sonarr, MCM and other programs find it without problem at the first try.
And if you were referring to the other problem i mentioned earlier, i had “pristine” file names matching the title in thetvdb. It was Plex that was removing the “-” (minus) sign before searching, for no true reason (if there is, why removing it? at least, do a double search with and without…)
I never look at that crap, I’m way more interested in the content than the metadata. I just need the freakin poster and I’m good. So don’t you worry your pretty little head about my metadata
I use
Agent : TVDB
When checking , No poster, No rating, No Tagline, everything else was present including full Cast.
Did a fix match without using options, The poster appeared, had to enter rating and Tagline.
It seems it’s different for everyone, Merry Christmas Guys from OZ
I just had to use the TVDB ID# for “Victoria and Albert: The Wedding (2018)”. Filebot found it in milliseconds, gave it the name it got, then a minute later Plex couldn’t match it…
That maybe because Plex loves to strip anyting that is not alphanumeric from the movie name before searching. As i mentioned with the “-”, maybe it remove also the “:”. If you put back it in the manual fix search box, i’m pretty sure it will find the movie.
