There are no items in this library

EDIT: I solved the problem finally though unfortunately I can’t pinpoint which of these steps was the exact fix:

  • Stopped PMS
  • Created a new local DSM user called “media” which is the username of my Windows PC account that runs PMS
  • Enabled Advanced Sharing Permissions on the share, and gave R/W access to my new media account (as well as my standard admin account, which is what I was using to map the share to Windows)
  • Cleared SMB cache on the shared folder again (I think I did this 20 times prior, to no avail)
  • Started PMS
  • Removed the music library and re-added it
  • Boom, everything is indexing finally

FYI this problem just started for me today, this is now January 2019 with much more recent versions of both DSM and PMS (and Windows 10 for that matter). None of the suggestions in this thread has fixed the problem for me. I have a new thread here about it: Music Library disappeared, can still access but not index
