Any further updates on this?
I am still having problems with Plex on my Sony TV. I was running on the Beta program with 8.28.0.29997 and 8.28.0.30077 but they seemed even worse. I quite the beta program and went back to 8.27.2.29938 but the problems still persist.
All media plays fine on my Samsung TV, Ipad, and Plex web player.
Sometime the media will play, other times it just sits there spinning for ever. This is getting very old and frustrating. Please fix this!
I tried the release version 8.28.0.30077 and it still has the playback problems. I reverted back to 8.26.0.28838 which seems to work okay. And I turned off auto update.
Anyone tried the new 8.29 beta?
To me all the Sony TV (4k 2015, AndroidTV 7) playback problems seem to be related to the new player. No problems with the old one. Currently I´m using version 8.5.
I would like to know, which the latest Plex Client version was, with the option to activate the old player.
How do you install a different version of the App on the TV? I thought you could only get this through the app store which is serving up 8.28 currently. I too am having the same issue on my tv.

I installed Plex 8.28.0.29687 on my Sony Android TV. This version runs fairly stable.
Every other newer Plex version including the latest beta: Plex for Android 8.30.0.30859-beta still has the playback problem (resume movies and series doesn’t work)
How do I get the latest Plex version with the new features to work properly on my Sony Android TV (Android TV 9)?
