There was an unexpected error loading this library

Just started getting this problem with my TV Shows. This is also the problem with another category that is using the TV Shows type of library. Anything that uses movies, Videos or Music works fine. I’ve tried both Safari and Firefox and still not working.

Having this problem as well. My server is Unraid and I am running on 1.16.0.1226.

Which version of 1.13 did you roll back to and how? Every time I put in a specific version number I get an Error 404 that it can’t find that version?

I have this issue now on unRaid.

Version 3.95.2

I have reinstalled after manually removing the appdata plex related files to ensure a fresh install.
I’ve re-installed different docker publishers for Plex.
Seems to be no resolution to this problem

Has anyone found an update here yet, or a solution?

I remember fiddling around with the URL to find the right, undisclosed address for out of date versions, but can’t remember it right now. It has something to do with finding a URL that works, and changing the corresponding number (which is not 1.13, sorry!). Maybe I got it from this post, but can’t be sure. HOWTO DOWNLOAD PREVIOUS PLEX VERSION
I saved a copy of 1.13 to my desktop so I could use it if the server updates automatically (it happens. It happened.)

HEy. I have been using the older version ever since realising it was the only fix.
Are you still using the old version too?
And have you tried going to the newer releases to see if this still happens?
I am asking because I now have a new annoying problem! So I am wondering if that will be fixed by using the newest version…but don’t want to go back to the other problem!
Oh plex how annoying you are grrr…!

I am still using 1.13. I tried updating a few times, but the problem persists and I need to roll back to my backup. I believe it’s some library error that 1.14 and beyond can’t live with. The problem is that my library is pretty big and heavily tweaked (manually added information that the automatic scrubbing couldn’t find because it was a 1930’s animated short, for instance), so I’m really not willing to start over.

What’s your new annoying problem?

I’m having this issue now, started today seemingly randomly (plex was working fine last night):

Plex Media Server is installed via a docker in Unraid.

Last night my Plex server was running just fine. Watched a movie and went to sleep. Today, one library will not load at all (Movies) with the error message ‘There was an unexpected error loading this library’. The other library I have (TV) loads, but no content will play from it with the error message ‘Playback Error - An error occurred loading items to play’. If I click on the server name itself while at the plex.tv desktop site, I’ll get the error message ‘SERVERNAME is currently unavailable’, then the desktop site refreshes and I get ‘There was an unexpected error loading this library’.

The Unraid server is flawless during all of this and all content is readable as well as playable when I use Kodi (currently serving as my backup device since this is the second time this has happened to me with Plex).

Both times this happened with Plex were seemingly random. After the first time, I ended up deleting the docker and reinstalled it, which did solve the issue but I’d rather not have to do that again since it takes an exceptionally long time to get things ‘just right’ again.

Without removing everything and starting over AGAIN, does anybody have any ideas how to fix this problem?

I’m using Version 1.16.5.1488 and its working perfectly fine. I did have problem with some of the earlier Versions, at the moment everything seems to be working fine.

I agree with you on staying with the old version for now. Definitely. I have many files with manually edited descriptions that I couldn’t bear starting over again with…
The new annoying problem?
Hehe. Preparevyourself now.
Well, I was watching a film on my samsung TV which is what I watch all my plex stuff on nearly, apart from the few times my son uses his tablet to watch something, anyway so we are watching a film and ten minutes in and suddenly…nothing! Just … nothing. Plex apparently was no longer running as the TV now reported the server offline.
I went to the PC and hecked the server and there it was, in the systray of windows 7, and in the process manager, process running. Hmm. The only way to get the server to reappear to my TV despite being on a wired connect direct to it, was to restart plex. Then it happened 2 minutes later. Then every single time we watched anything! For a couple of weeks I put up with it. Then I bit the bullet. It was becoming unusable.
I don’t know anything about plex logs but i delved in and found some weird CRITICAL errors listed in the main PLEX log file so as it was related to some plugin, I renamed it then restarted plex. Now it wouldn’t even run!
I named it back and studied the log some more. I found a few of these critical errors and they all referred to broken channels. I tried fixing what seemed wrong with them.
Well after a few bad starts it actually seems to be stable again now.
Dare I say I actually fixed it!  As for updating, I have it set to ask me first and am happily clicking Skip This Update when it appears!

To the fellow advising me to chsnge browser, I should’ve said but it wasn’t a browser only issue, it stopped the library showing on my TV too. It was a plex issue that was showing in the browser and TV.
Cheers.

This is why I ask for logs.
