This item cannot be played..

OK I have an Assustor NAS and all works fine with the xbox one app and playing TV Shows, Family Movies, Music and Photos, but every movie I try to play comes back with an error message that it can’t be played.
If I try and play the same movie on the web app, same issue.

As an aside, also have similar issues playing Plex music via Sonos but that’s another post I guess

It sounds like the NAS is having trouble transcoding which is giving the ‘This item cannot be played’ message. If that is the case you could try running the optimzer from the web app on the file which will pre-convert the file to a format supported by Plex Web/Xbox One client.

If that isn’t the case we would need to verify what is causing the problem with your Plex Media Server log files. This support article (https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200250417-Plex-Media-Server-Log-Files) explains the typical locations you can find the logs.

Ah my mistake, I saw that it was answered so I didn’t even read the log yet. I’ll mark it as unanswered, but I’ll have to wait a little bit to go through the log.

Unfortunately, looking at that log entry there doesn’t actually appear to be any playback starting or being requested to start. There’s requests that have to do with browsing through sections, but nothing for actually selecting an item for playback. There was a point where the server appeared to have lost connection when trying to update it’s IP address with plex.tv, but that shouldn’t affect anything once you’re already browsing locally via the web browser.

Ideally, if you could restart the server try and playback a broken item and then upload a copy of the logs one of the 5 logs should contain the playback attempt. (Most likely Plex Media Server.log or Plex Media Server.log.1)
