I am back with another puzzle for you.
Plex server is working great on my old PC. It is 100% capable of preforming direct stream to any device, local or remote, unless you need to transcode anything. This is where I am running into this error. Most of the content on the server is 1080p and as soon I attempt to push it down to 720 or 480p I get an error message that you can find in the subject. Same is true when hardware acceleration is either enabled or disabled. I remember that transcoder was working just fine before I applied plex pass. While I was trying to enable network ports for Remote Access I have run couple of times into âIndirectâ connection and content that I was trying to play was transcoded down to 144p successfully. I hope this bit of information helps.
PC Specs are:
Windows 10 20H2
CPU: AMD FX 8350
GPU: RX 580
GPU Driver version: 21.1.1
DDR3: 8GB
HDD: M2 for server installation, mechanical disk for content storage
Hello Otto. Glad to see you are still here! Thanks for heeding the call yet again. I did tried to disable hardware acceleration but transcoder still wonât budge. Anything else I could try to do to fix this issue?
Did you perhaps disable the transcoder altogether? Never do that.
Settings - Server - Transcoder - âShow Advancedâ - âDisable video stream transcodingâ
First reading your post I was like: âNo way I was this dumbâ.Turns out I actually was this dumb⊠Thanks for pointing this out, it would taken me long long time to find this on my own. I did some quick testing after unchecking âDisable video stream transcodingâ and error is gone and software trancoding is working just fine. Later on I will make sure Hardware transcoder actually works and I will get back to you.
