I’m having trouble accessing my PMS.

I have just got a new modem/router (TP-Link Archer VR2800) and since then, I’ve not been able to connect to the PMS.

I run Plex via OpenMediaVault (OMV). I have reset the server and made sure it has picked up the new IP address. All other applications on the server are working.

I have uninstalled Plex and reinstalled, but nothing seems to work.

If I try connecting with my server name (eg servername:32400/web) I can’t even see the server. If I use the server IP (eg 192.168.x.x:32400/web) I can see the server, but it comes up with a “This server is unclaimed and not secure”. Also tells me there is an update available.

This is driving me crazy, please help!!!

I have tried running the ClaimIt tool which I have seen used on here for similar problems.

Unfortunately it also came up with an error:

PROBLEM: Can’t Claim PMS…Job Aborted
Error was: The remote server returned an error: (500) Internal Server Error.
FATAL ERROR…Job Aborted

I have checked the errors page and don’t think the options listed are relevant in this case.

When you installed the new modem/router, did you

  1. Set it as the same IP address of the one you took out?
  2. Set the DNS addresses the same ?
  3. Set the DHCP reservations?

I’m asking because if you configured the other to be a different subnet while you moved it into position then changed LAN IP and removed the other, all should work after a simple reboot of everything.

To answer your questions:

  1. The IP address is different. The previous modem/router used a 10.1.1.x and the new one uses 192.168.1.x
  2. DNS has been set as 1.1.1.1
  3. DHCP reservation has been left as default 192.168.1.100-254. I have assigned an address reservation for the NAS device within that range

I feel this is on the right track as I’m now having issues with some other applications on OMV not being able to be connected.

I have reset the network connections in OMV and confirmed the IP address and DNS as above (1.1.1.1)

Should I be looking at changing these or making other modifications to the network in order to get plex working again?

To keep things simple for now, you might want to set DNS to 8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4.
In PMS settings, did you make any LAN settings (Settings - Server - Network) which were dependent on the previous 10.x.x.x addresses ?

I have changed the Primary and Secondary DNS to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 on the router. Have also made sure OMV was using the same DNS in its’ network settings.

Looking in PMS, I have never updated the network settings (besides disabling IPv6 support) as I read online it could cause issues.

I’ll reboot the router and server and see how I go

Unfortunately after making those changes and rebooting both devices, still unable to claim the server in PMS.

Other applications on the server are also not working (SABnzbd and SickChill). Both are using ports which used to work, but now it won’t connect.

I do not know how to help you there without being physically onsite to walk through each step.

I’m sorry but there’s nothing I can do if you can’t get the basic apps working.

It is very unfortunate that you couldn’t make the new router run at the IP addresses of the old one and have been a “hot swap”.
