thumbnails not loading, not in cache

hello,

i recently had to re-install rasplex and am now having difficulty with thumbnails (film jackets and back art, but also the "dolby digital" logo). approximately one-third of thumbnails do not appear, and a few of those that do are distorted as if file was loaded partially.

i have checked the images on the server. and they load correctly when i access from my iphone. i also checked a second rasplex box and the thumbnails are all present in cache.

i re-installed a few days ago and can see that the cache is not growing in size. as the faq suggests, i have scrolled through the all movies section several times over the last few days. but to no avail...

has anyone had similar experiences, or have any ideas ? thanks !

Please post your logfiles to be able to identify the issue. Some other users reported reinstalling will fix this issue too.

I seem to be having the same issue, let me know if you would like to see my log file as well. You will have to tell me where to get the log file from, but then I would know for next time.

This issue might by memory-related too… Do you have a 256Mb RPi?
Please login via ssh and take a look at your memory usage (via top, etc.)

hello again,

to answer the question, i have a 512 mp rpi. top shows :

Mem: 286616K used, 22252K free, 0K shrd, 30452K buff, 125820K cached

out of desperation i re-installed last night. i carefully scrolled through the movie section, and each loaded. the same for tv shows, albeit much more slowly. when i did the same for my daughter's move section rasplex froze.

after reboot, 10% of previously loaded thumbnails are now absent. very frustrating as this *was* working fine before my initial problem...

here is the latest log file. thanks again for any and all help !

hi,

out of curiosity i downloaded all the thumbnails to look at them. i found a bunch of files that had errors. this probably explaining why the image doesn't display in plex. here is an example :

edit : the forum uploader refuses most of these files, maybe because of the errors.

if i look on my other rasplex, the same file looks like this :

i also found a corrupted image file that shows no error :

i deleted the bad thumbnails off the rpi. rasplex doesn't seem to 'regenerate' them. even after a boot. is there some way to do this ?

It should be possible to delete userdata/Thumbnails - but this is generally not a good idea. -- DON'T DO THIS -- if you don't want to get into trouble.

it is possible. and as i said it doesn't change anything...

but what to do then ? it seems that files are being corrupted on my card as they are stored. is it the card, rasplex, openelec, ... ?

Sorry - the easiest way would be probably to just reinstall RasPlex. But this seems to not fix your problem … How large is your library?

hi,

library is large, over 650 1080p films, plus sd tv series, and a bunch of music. thumbnail directory is now around 200 mo.

latest re-install of 0.2.2 seems to have fixed the problem for now, though i did notice a corrupted album cover yesterday ...

i will see what happens with new version of plex once i can get it installed.

any hypothesis on what the problem could be, hardware, software, ... ?
